Hey, if Biden's gonna claim he'll win Florida, Trump might as well do the same.

They realize that Zeldin didn't win, as good as he did, right? Please, waste time and money trying to replicate the impossible in a presidential year.

But I'll leave it to the NY-3 special election to really gauge how much immigration works as a campaign issue in the state.

If NY-03 is a preview for November, Republicans will almost certainly be disappointed in the end. I think New York will somewhat trend right this year, but more to Schumer 2022 levels at worst.

I'm still thinking the bottom falling out for Biden in the state would be something more akin to Kerry in 2004: 18 points or so.

ALLRED is not down by 10 Emerson has him down 2 and still no poll on Scott and Debbie Powell

Yeah, I more meant Schumer's vote share of 56%. Depending on third party vote, I doubt Trump will crack 40% of the vote. Or if so, just very barely.

It could be for optics. People will say , “Trump is kicking ass if he’s competing for New York.” Biden did the same in 2020 when he supposedly contested Texas, yet close analysis showed that his ad purchases were small and not concentrated in the areas he would’ve needed to actually win Texas: his ad purchase in Texas in 2020 was just for show

Another reason could be to hold on to some of the NY seats that Repubs won in 2022 midterms

I don't think it's strategy, I think Trump still has a lot of personal affinity for NY and wants to win there. I remember after his big primary win in 2016 he was jubilant and told Bill O Reilly "I think we're gonna win New York", and O Reilly, understanding politics a lot more, politely didn't respond. Seems his advisers won out in 2016, he'll probably listen to reason again and not seriously spend money in such an unwinnable state.

He might not 'flip New York', but the repercussions of what is happening will help him in other states.

It's hard to get a read on the reality of US life. I have friends in Oakland, CA and they say it's not as bad as it looks.

The shop owners say it's bad, but the place still revolves around the globe 24 hours a day like everywhere else.

He might "only" lose by low double digits, but he's welcome to waste money there trying.

He won't win it but he could tighten the margins to 15-20%.
