Look, from a democrat, you could do a lot worse.

I don't have major issues with him. I don't agree with his internationalist worldview, but it hasn't translated directly to policy: he's been okay on trade and FoPo. I don't like the focus on 'saving democracy', the more he focuses on policy, even if I don't agree with him on his goals, the less I mind him.

His age is an issue though. A major, major issue with voters. I really think people fail to realize how people's perceptions change about somebody when they go from 79->80.

(Last thread from me for a few days, didn't mean to spam, but a lot on my mind.)

Age alone is hardly a reason to vote against a candidate. A lot of people have it on their minds but I suspect that it's more because its visibility as an issue is significantly larger than its actual role in shaping people's opinions.

I really think a lot of his disapproval comes from indifference or a lack of excitement around his personality.

Meanwhile, the Republican Party is not making themselves an attractive alternative.

If this was Biden of 2012, 2016, or even 2020, do you have any doubt he would be a heavy favorite right now?

He certainly would be looking much better than he is now. He doesn't have the charismatic presence that Obama did but that's less of a negative than his age. We aren't used to have 80+ year olds in the limelight. There are people who wouldn't even hire a 60 year old for a job, although most of those were already Trumpists

Biden 2020 would be a heavy favorite and probably would win the PV by 6-7 against Trump 2024, but he had 52% favorabilities then.
