Yes, but only two more to kill the nomination. Not surprisingly, it comes down to the three center leaning members of the Senate.

There has been a considerable amount of interest from outside the Senate focusing on the VP confirmation hearings which have come before the Senate recently. Within that there has been a lot of obvious, but in my view misdirected, anger which has surfaced about the Senate exercising its right to confirm nominees. Some have said that this Senate is biased against conservatives. I must say that I found these criticisms to be generally unwarranted, occasionally spiteful and simply untrue. I also find the position of some citizens that we should simply confirm whoever the President puts in front of us as a matter of form or because there is a limited amount of time remaining in the term to be of concern - if nothing else it displays a considerable lack of respect for the office under consideration. The right of the Senate to confirm nominees is present for a reason, we are not hear to simply rubber stamp whomever is brought before us.

Phil is not the nominee I would have put forward, nonetheless he deserves to be considered on his merits. The PPT has stated certain objections and there are aspects of his statement that I'm inclined to concur with. I am particularly concerned by the explicit manner in which certain citizens have sought this nomination simply as an avenue to aid their ability to try and remove the PPT. I shall say now that I will stand firmly opposed to such an effort and I will not support a motion of no-confidence or expulsion.

While I have concerns about how the nominee may use his position, I do feel that he is capable of exercising his position responsibily.

I feel the nominee is competent to hold the position and I sincerely hope, should he be approved, that he holds the position displaying honour, dignity and respect for all the citizens of Atlasia.

Assuming Sen. Ernest is inactive, Keystone Phil is confirmed with 5 ayes and 3 nays.  Congratulations!
