Efforts to block LGBTQ+ issues in schools are finally backfiring, new report says

And here is the report itself.

Just build LGBTQ private schools for them and use an education voucher program. Having public schools is the biggest issue right now. Switching to private and using vouches ensures everyone is happy. The queer kids get to learn about trans surgery, and the school board Karen lets her child learn about Christ.

No teacher and no public school is wasting their time and effort talking about "trans surgery." Your attempt to play both sides by throwing in the right-wing "Karen" thing doesn't work

Because the 'separate but equal' doctrine worked out so well last time...

You think that the religious right snowflakes would have no problem with their tax dollars going towards LGBTQ private schools?

No, the real world isn't somewhere where everyone has a safe space. Kids from super different backgrounds need to work together because whether you like it or not we're a diverse country and if we're gonna make it another generation people have to learn to live with each other.

Must be a really miserable life for all these conservatives who live in constant fear that gays are hiding under their beds, ready to steal their precious bodily fluids.

It's not segregation because shouldn't be forced, but it would be far more comfortable for LGBTQ students to have the option of attending a school that is dedicated to taking care of them.

It's pretty fascinating how out of touch the Atlas right is with the American right wing that actually exists. Almost everything they suggest would be soundly rejected by conservative voters.

Why the hell should we allow any schools that’s aren’t dedicated to taking care of all of their students, regardless of any distinction.

We are not a monolith and we do not need to be "taken care of". As a bisexual person, I will always go to a normal school with other people of all backgrounds, not your proposed Kafkaesque reeducation camps.

Being LGBT is not a disease. I would go into more detail, but I have neither the time nor the crayons to explain this to you.

When I was a gay kid in a far more bigoted world than today, this would've been the absolute worst option. It is akin to bowing out and letting the bullies win. Not to mention the point I brought up about your idea basically being giant safe spaces. Of course you ignored all the other rebuttals in here and went for the low hanging fruit of a Fergie post.

We've had dialogue before on other matters and you're not a dumb guy, really a shame to see you happily engage in passive aggressive homophobia.

I agree that there is a potential for safe spaces, but not everyone wants to be challenged in public schools. For the LGBTQ kids that attend public schools, I applaud them for their courage but a lot of them will benefit from a school that can handle their unique situation differently without getting in the way of Chirstian parents and vice-versa. When people get to college, they can tackle safe spaces there but students shouldn't be forced to attend schools where they are uncomfortable.

Life is challenging. Schools are not just about academics, they are about preparing you for a diverse society where there will be many disagreements about emotional issues. Also weird that you ignore the fact that countless gay youth also proudly identify as Christian.

Anyways, college students need to have a basic grasp of how to deal with opposing views and people who live lifestyles they might not be comfortable with. And this goes for both progressive LGBT kids and conservative religious kids. They are entitled to a school free of bullying and violence but no one is entitled to a homogenous safe zone. If that's all you grow up with, college will be 10x harder socially than it already is.

Lots of "Christian parents" support LGBT equality. You can't just claim the entirety of Chirstendom for your personal beliefs on this issue.

Except for Jews, as you've made abundantly clear.

At my mom's alma mater (UCLA) the Hilel is now requiring that all attendees go through a comprehensive security screening. This hasn't happened in the past.

Jewish people are incredibly safe here, both in and outside of college campuses. I genuinely think you and I live in different worlds because my existence is no different now than it was two months ago, and the same goes for everyone in my immediate family.
