The next day, MENENDEZ performed a web search for “how much is one kilo of gold worth.” As discussed herein, multiple gold bars provided by DAIBES were found during the court-authorized June 2022 search of MENENDEZ and NADINE MENENDEZ’s residence.

Menendez's resignation would be the right course of action here, from both a moral and a political standpoint. If being indicted disqualifies you from running for high office, then it disqualifies you from being in high office. And if Democrats don't repudiate him, they don't get to say "BUT TRUMP" - especially since they're running at the same time.

That's not a way of equivocating Trump's actions with Menendez's, but if the Democrats want to be credible about this stuff, they should be consistent and do the right thing without arguing whose actions are worse. And as the age-old saying goes, "If you have to explain, you're losing," so they shouldn't even try to equivocate this.

If he doesn't leave on his own, Schumer and the DSCC should tell him he is on his own while they look for an alternative in the primary. Just please, for the love of God, don't give us Josh Gottheimer.
