I think Tim Scott would agree to it.

He'd definitely agree to it, but I don't think that Trump would offer it.

Why not?  Trump is not dumb.  He understand his problems with the broader electorate, so he will be willing to pick someone with appeal outside of his base.

Scott has national appeal and a very good relationship with the Senate GOP/D.C. insiders.  In what will likely be a close senate, someone like Scott would be very valuable to have inside the White House.

I think Trump will try to pick someone with moderate vibes, however his most important litmus test will be whether they would have done what Trump wanted Pence to do in 2021. After all that's his biggest problem with Pence.

IMO, that is a pretty dumb litmus test since Trump can't be a candidate for president in 2028.

Is this not what he did in 2016?

He did it exactly once in 2016 (picking Pence) and then literally never again.

Well, that's  because he picked a vice presidential nominee exactly once (namely Pence, in 2016) and then literally never again (so far, at least).
