Quote
Republican Party officials have selected Houston to host their party’s 2028 presidential convention, approving the location during a closed meeting on Friday.

...
Houston won the convention over four other contenders, including another in Texas, Dallas. The other cities under consideration were Miami, Nashville, and Jacksonville, Florida.

It's probably much cheaper to book the venue in advance.

This is coming from a member of the party that chose Chicago over Atlanta to host the 2024 DNC.

Have I ever accused the Democratic Party of competence in campaigning?

I don't see anything wrong with picking Chicago. Writing it off because Illinois is a safe state is a bit of betrayal in fact. You are essentially punishing a coalition because they tend to be more loyal with their vote.

Democrats should pick Dallas or another city in Texas.

It's extremely premature to make 2028 decisions and they will probably replace it by then.

I'll let you in on a secret: the location of the Convention has a negligible impact on the election.

They were both picked because Chicago and Houston has a lot of their party large donors. Lets not pretend it was for anything else.
