Haley at 7% is just mindblowing to me. She came off as the most knowledgable and in command of the issues. This just shows you how far off the deep end GOP voters are.

I don't really like haley but watching the debate back she actually had the strongest performance here. She wasn't pulling back from criticizing trump (her opponent), she swung at the other candidates  and didn't sound low energy in the process. She's the most formable VP option to trump in my opinion

the position she outline isn’t popular with Repubs. She is a hawkish candidate all about America 2nd, Ukraine & Israel first. People in Repub electorate want to focus on our own country

Haley is another Bachman, Ernst and Reynolds type that aren't electable she only has been attacking Biden like all the others instead of attacking Trump and Biden has an 96 Approval rating with Ds it's only with Rs that Biden has a net negative Approvals that's why when you add Indys and Ds with Rs Biden is even in Rassy Approvals

Biden is at 48/38 or 50/50 it's the same conditions as 22 5 percentage pts inflation, 4 percentage pts unemployment and 4.50 gas but the difference is OH and DeWine isn't on the ballot that's why LaRise is doing poorly but Biden and Obama won NC, FL and OH in 2008/12 and it's a Prez race higher D Turnout than a Midterm

I watch Nikki Haley senseless attacks on Biden but Biden has an 80 percentage pts Approval among Ds like Trump has on Rs

This is primarily an Online Poll for some crap Newspaper in the UK! I wouldn't put a huge stock to that.

Ramaswamy is waaaay more dangerous than Trump ever will be! Yes, I do not like Trumps behaviour and J6 + the Big Lie and stolen Election Claims BUT his Foreign Policy was pretty solid, his Trade Policies were too, the Economy was doing good before COVID and he kept Xi Jingping and Putin in check.

“We need Israel” is one of the dumbest things any candidate has said in a debate, and it was her most emphatic point.

I am of the belief this country is capable of both spending 3% of our military budget to ensure Putin does not take over eastern Europe AND focus on our own country.

But I get it, the Republican base no longer thinks we can do that.

CNN ran a focus group of real undecided Iowa voters (not online atlas people). 7 said Vivek, 4 said Haley, and 2 said DeSantis performed the best. That’s about what I expected. Vivek mainly impressed the MAGA wing though so Haley should see the most vote share growth.

I think the problem with Ramaswamy's approach is that the people he appealed to most last night were hardcore Trump supporters who aren't going to abandon him for any reason. Anecdotal of course, but most of the people defending him in the debate thread last night were people who are still diehard Trumpers. They were saying that Ramaswamy is their number two. If he's running to be Trump's VP, as many people suspect, he's lined himself up well so far.

Right. If Trump drops out for some reason, I could see Vivek becoming the frontrunner. However, I don't think he gains much support aside from maybe flipping some DeSantis supporters. Haley may begin to consolidate whatever non-MAGA voters are left in the primary pool. She's certainly the better candidate from South Carolina. Tim Scott is more or less an empty suit.

Normally I agree, but "JL Partners" seems to be a somewhat credible outfit

If Trump can't get to like 2/3rds in the polls and KO the field before Iowa, his next best case scenario is having 2-3 serious opponents roughly tied in the teens.   Worst case is DeSantis gradually creeping back up toward 30%.

Couldn't agree more. It's another piece of evidence the Republican base is big on anti-intellectualism.

In 2015 I thought O'Malley was doing good at the Democrat debates too.

After that fiasco I always assume the most energetic anti-establishment candidate always wins debates, and the most establishment boring ones always lose.

Looks like basically just a primary poll without Trump.

And is just as relevant.
