I work in the deep south so the majority of coworkers in my field are diehard Republican voters, most of whom supported/support Trump. I wanted to get a general takeaway from the debate from them so i listened to their typical morning discussion. So far this is what I have.

- most of them indeed watched the debate, not Tucker Carlson.

- Nearly all of them are BEAMING about Vivek Ramaswamy and said he was the overwhelming winner. One of them commented the debate "would not be worth watching" without him.

- They agree entirely with Ramaswamy about Ukraine aid and this was the highlight of the debate for them.

- Nobody cares about DeSantis. I've heard virtually no mentions of him.

- They seem to hate Nikki Haley, Pence and Asa Hutchinson the most, calling them shills and RINOs.

- Most of them are likely still voting Trump but are considering Vivek if that doesn't work out.

Again, this is purely anecdotal so take it with a grain of salt. But I have noticed thus far that those declaring Haley the winner are....certainly not Republicans.

Surprised you’d get all this info at work though. In every workplace I’ve been, religion and politics are the two topics considered off-limits. Coworkers don’t speak about it

But I agree with most of what the coworkers say. Let’s go Vivek

I work in construction/manufacturing, so almost nothing is "off limits". They all bond over conservative politics and normally I just kind of butt out but I wanted to hear what they had to say this morning.

Depends on the workplace, I guess.  I've been in some where people do talk about politics a lot (including my current one, where the people have a wide range of viewpoints) and others where it just didn't come up much, or in one case was actively discouraged to avoid causing office strife.

Of course they love Ramaswamy. Trump's base is full of sociopaths.

Weird. Most of the people in my office in Charleston SC felt Nikki Haley overwhelmingly won and Vivek came off as a used car salesman who knew nothing. That said, this office is nearly all Democrats and this is Nikki Haley's home base.

Were is the weird in that ?

Democrats liked Haley because she came off as the closest to a typical establishment Democrat whom Republicans hate.

Haley of course is running in the wrong primary, so her getting no votes is also natural.

I can only hope candidates like Haley get crossover support from indys/dems in the primary - though I suppose that does nothing against the RINO accusations

Are your coworkers primarily on the younger side? I wouldn't be surprised if there was an age gap factor in Ramaswamy support. Most polling has shown older Republicans are significantly more likely to support military aid to Ukraine.

They are between mid-20s and mid-40s. So yes, on the younger side.

Most of the Republican base is in their 50s and older so they are probably in a minority among the GOP
