Which candidate surprised you the most in running this cycle?

AKA candidates that were not on your radar at all several months ago, and decided to run. We have a couple in that category, so which one shocked you the most?

I say Vivek Ramaswamy. I didn't know who he was until he ran.

Excluding guys like Vivek who I literally didn't know existed before he ran, probably Chris Christie. He hasn't been in office for a decade and has no real obvious base. But to be honest, I don't think he's running a real campaign. He just wants to have some fun and destroy some careers.

Will Hurd, personally....followed very closely by Francis Suarez. I remember Hurd spoke in opposition to Trump over some nonsense (what was it, mean tweets or something?) when he was in Congress, but then he resigned BECAUSE he knew he couldn't win the primary. Now he is running for President as a Republican? I forgot this guy even existed. I don't disagree that Ramaswamy was surprising, and as a Florida resident, I've only heard Suarez's name once, years ago when he was talking about the threat to Miami from sea level rise.

But Will Hurd? I wouldn't even remember his name if he hadn't announced. That's my opinion.

Doug Burgum. If you told me one of the Dakota governors would run, I'd be 99% sure it was Noem.

Hutchinson. Who is this guy? Why is he running? What does a 72 year old no-name former governor of a tiny state expect to get out of this?
