New Hampshire Governor Chris Sununu affirmed to the New York Times this Morning that he will be endorsing a Presidential Candidate to help narrow the Field.

Sununu says his Endorsement is for anyone for the taking right now!

Pretty funny that there's already a guy named Chris running to be the "alternative to Trump" but he's such a non-serious candidate that he can't even earn the endorsement of the people who desperately want an "alternative to Trump"

I'm getting tired of non-serious takes like this.

Between Donald Trump's many crimes and DOA DeSantis, there has been extremely little national coverage of the other Republican candidates.  There is plenty of time for voter awareness to change and poll numbers to shift (though there are no guarantees of what will change, and criminal organization head Donald Trump certainly may win the nomination).

The point is that Republicans are incapable of fielding an "alternative to Trump" because they want Trump. They've made it very clear that whether it is him or someone who sounds exactly like him, they are going to nominate someone who is cut from Trump's cloth. It is beyond a wasted effort to try and prop up an "alternative" when it is very clear that the base wants no such alternative and most of the entire field that is already vying to be an alternative can't even manage to crack double digits. It's not an issue of name recognition, it is an issue of rejection.

I've long contended that choosing to remain a Republican while also being "anti-Trump" is an exercise in masochism and delusion. He owns the party and until the base decides that they no longer want him or someone more extreme than him, it makes no sense to try and sell them on anyone other than him. His crimes will not sway them, they're strengthening him. You and I fundamentally share a sense of reality and an objective understanding of what corruption looks like, the base does not. You and I trying to argue about what circumstances may lead to someone usurping him is a waste of time.

Christie is already tied with DeSantis in New Hampshire (and has done a town hall with Sununu), wouldn’t be surprised if he endorses him.

he'll endorse tim scott. Chris christie is not a formable candidate outside of NH any person with a brain can see that. The only reason he's polling so high there is because he basically lives there now. Rons numbers are down tim scott is a safe pick

Sununu will endorse the one who comes in 2nd in Iowa and that's likely going to be DeSantis. DeSantis despite his Campaign Shortcomings thus far is still by far the best alternative to have a shot beating Trump.

I like Tim Scott BUT he has no Organization beyond the first four States. NeverBackDown, the Pro-DeSantis aligned SuperPac has been organizing in the Early States since March/April well in advance before DeSantis even declared.

Ron and his superpac have no real ground game beyond NH though? He's doing horribly anywhere outside of the first 2 states his peak is iowa and it's only down from there if he loses. Tim scott is doing okay in NH, doing okay in SC too way more formable as a trump ALT. He has the money to ride this out too.

That sounds about right, plus Sununu isn't as socially conservative as DeSantis is.

This is total garbarge from you! DeSantis has a Ground Game in all of the 4 early States. He's doing a "Full Grassley" in IA visiting all of IA's 99 Counties. He already visited 38 of 99.

DeSantis Ground Game at the moment is strongest in IA followed by NH and South Carolina.

NeverBackDown has been training Caucus Captains since late March/early April. DeSantis has at least one County Chair in IA in all of it's 99 Counties. The only other Campaign who has that is probably Trump and I am not even sure of that.

NeverBackDown has also presence in all of the Super Tuesday States.

Except that's a self-fulfilling prophecy. If, "oh, well, the GOP will always choose Trump, no point in talking about a world where they don't" is echoed everywhere from internet forums to mainstream media to conversations between GOP voters, then they will choose Trump because nothing else can gain mindshare.

Yes, Trump will have the loyalty to the GOP until he doesn't. They've had many chances to reject him, and have chosen instead to embrace them. And yes, I foolishly keep expecting Republicans to be better people than they're repeatedly demonstrated themselves to be. I guess I'm just too much of an optimist - I keep hoping that some clearly non-Trumpist leader (Burgum and Christie are the closest to that right now) will emerge and catch hold.

You're very likely right, but at least for a little while longer, I can't help but hope that some significant segment of GOP voters will choose to act with even a little human decency.

Oh it will happen when Biden wins a 2008-type landslide, D's have between 230-240 House Seats and a 51-49 Senate.

Isn't it cute that Sununu believes that Trump can be beaten in a one-on-one contest.

I don't know man i've seen clips where people at his events say they might not even support him they were just curious. This 99 county thing just seems like a waste of time, recourses & money. He was actually more competitive against trump in the state when he wasn't running he peaked too early. Tim scott is just so much better at this than him soon we'll probably see uncle tim go up in AI + he's already doing great in SC + NH. Would be dumb if senunu endorses ron.
