Meadows really seems to think he has some sort of right to special treatment here for some reason.

The only thing I could think of that could possibly be an actual reason is if he has been cooperating with Jack Smith, and was for some reason under the impression that he would receive more favorable treatment in return. Maybe he is getting that part of the deal from Smith in his federal case(s), but perhaps he was expecting the same from Fani Willis (with Jack Smith coordinating that with her or something) in Georgia but is not getting it.

Yeah, Chesebro gambled that Willis wouldn't be ready to move so quickly, and he lost the gamble.  There were a lot of complaints that Willis was taking too long to indict, but in hindsight it seems that she was waiting to have all her ducks in a row before proceeding.  Her lightning-quick responses to the motions for removal to federal court are another example; clearly those must have been gamed out ahead of time and mostly pre-written.

This also puts the other 18 defendants in a bind, because under Georgia law the speedy trial request brings all of them along with it (hence Willis proposing the October trial date for all of them).  Expect motions to sever at least some of their cases from Chesebro's.
