Just curious: if Trump is elected can he really make these state indictments go away or if his DoJ asks Willis to do so she can tell them to f**k off and continue with the trial?

The President or DoJ would have no ability to affect the state indictments.  I do see a possibility that if Trump is elected, the courts might rule that any pending indictments/trials/sentences would need to be suspended until after the completion of his term.  But they wouldn't go away completely.

If Trump wins, SCOTUS will probably rule that he can probably just self-pardon for the federal stuff. As for the Georgia stuff, I imagine the outcome would be some variant of "Fani Willis has made her ruling, now let her enforce it."

But the fact that a sitting president is totally immune from prosecution isn't based on something written in the constitution or in federal law. It was just the opinion of DoJ fifty years ago and has never been adjuticated. It will be uncharted waters if Trump invokes it and the courts are forced to intervene.

In which case a sitting president will be unable to visit certain states or else he will be arrested.

He'd probably specifically go to Fulton just to dare Willis to order his arrest. It would be, at best, a standoff between the secret service and the Fulton County PD.

Which is why it's so important to not only incarcerate Trump before the election (if he is found guilty), but to also make sure that he loses the election.

The former no, but the latter a million times yes if we elect Trump and permit him fundamentally destroy the rule of law in this country.

This is easily solved, if the GOP simply doesn't nominate Donald Trump. If they do nominate (let alone elect) Donald Trump in spite of his clear legal jeopardy, that's a vote to end rule of law in the United States. Government, particularly our flawed justice system, will have lost whatever moral authority and social credibility it had left.

All 19 defendants have now pled not guilty and waived their right to in court arraignment. Today was the last day to do that.

Quote
Fulton County prosecutors say Republican presidential electors charged in an alleged scheme to overturn the 2020 election are not entitled to move their case to federal court.

Three Republican electors have asked to have their cases heard in U.S. District Court in Atlanta instead of in Fulton County Superior Court. They say they’re eligible for a federal trial because they were acting as federal officials when they met in December 2020 to cast their ballots for Donald Trump – even as Georgia’s official electors met to cast their ballots for the winner, Democrat Joe Biden.

In a court filing late Tuesday, Fulton County District Attorney Fani Willis argued the Trump electors were not federal officials, as they have claimed. Instead, she said they sought to “impersonate” the genuine electors, and “their fiction is not entitled to recognition by this court.”

Obvious (and obviously correct) argument from Willis.  The fake electors' claim that they were acting as federal officials is no more valid than, for example, a losing candidate for governor or any other office claiming they won and still trying to exercise the authority of that office.

Can we just appreciate for a minute how great Chesebro's name is? It's literally pronounced "cheese-bro."

I initially thought it was some weird nickname for Trump. It took me a while to release it actually was a guy's name.

Sure, but a lot of news coverage pronounces it the more hilarious way, and I appreciate that.

Trump tells judge he may try to move Georgia election interference case to federal court

Quote
Former President Donald Trump on Thursday formally notified the judge overseeing the Georgia election subversion case that he “may” try to move his state case into federal court.

Trump’s lawyers have previously said they would try to move the case, which could help him get the charges dropped by invoking immunity protections for federal officials.

“President Trump hereby notifies the Court that he may seek removal of his prosecution to federal court,” his lawyer Steven Sadow said in a brief court filing. “To be timely, his notice of removal must be filed within 30-days of his arraignment.”

The 30-day clock began on August 31, when Trump waived his right to an arraignment hearing and entered a not guilty plea.

Fulton County DA tears into Rep. Jim Jordan over his inquiry into Trump indictment
“Your letter makes clear that you lack a basic understanding of the law, its practice, and the ethical obligations of attorneys generally and prosecutors specifically,” Fani Willis wrote in a letter to the Republican investigating her.

Quote
Fulton County, Georgia, District Attorney Fani Willis on Thursday rebuked House Judiciary Committee Chairman Jim Jordan for his decision to investigate the Georgia election interference probe that led to the indictment of former President Donald Trump and 18 other defendants.

In a letter, Willis, a Democrat, accused Jordan, R-Ohio, of overstepping his congressional authority with his recent requests for information pertaining to her investigation.

Willis, who was responding to a letter Jordan sent late last month, said there is "no justification in the Constitution for Congress to interfere with a state criminal matter."

I guess Willis took Graham at his word when he said to "count me out" on January 6th.

They recommended indictment against the GA Lt. Governor. But Willis is recused from prosecuting him because she donated to a political opponent. But a special prosecutor can be appointed to look into it. He's probably the only unindicted name that may still have jeopardy here.
