On the left (Campaign Group I think); was originally called John Austin-Walker when first elected but presumably decided a double-barrelled name sounded too posh.

He was first elected in 1992 for Woolwich constituency, which no longer exists. He defeated John Cartwright, the sitting MP for David Owen's continuing SDP.
