Thank you all for a robust debate on this issue. In my personal opinion, I'm not even sure we should single out anyone at all, including the original person listed on the amendment. Like Senators Cao, Sirius, and Scott have mentioned, though, adding extra people muddies the waters of the point of this amendment, which is what I'm voting on here.

Nay

P.S. Please can we try to avoid concurrent votes! Thank you! Lol

What is the current version of the bill (I must be blind!)? I have an amendment to put forward and I'd like to ensure that it's amending the current working version.

Appologies I was looking in the wrong thread. I don't have an amendment for this bill. This is what happens when I have too many tabs open on my browser.

Motioning to table this, as LT already got what he wanted per Virginia's announcement, so there really isn't a need to do this.

Regarding Atlasia, YT and Scott

Scott has been banned from Atlasia-related boards for 3 months
YoungTexan's account has been deleted per a request from a couple weeks ago that I originally denied but decided to accept.

I've tried to keep forum moderation separate from Discord issues, which is something some of you may or may not agree with, and I'm still largely sticking with this, but this drama with Atlasia needs to stop. So from now on, any serious threats involving doxxing or to one's personal safety made on Discord from one forum user to another involving Atlasia can result in a ban from the game boards. I'm not laying down specific guidelines at this point, so issues will be considered on a case by case basis. This is not retroactive, either.

Regarding Scott, I'm still not even sure what he actually threatened to release, only that it doesn't seem to be personally identifiable information that is generally what is considered to be "doxxing," which makes this entire situation pretty ridiculous to me. Nonetheless, regardless of what information here is actually at stake, I'm very disappointed in this behavior and it is not at all appropriate for the game or the forum. With that, and given the larger issue of YT's legal threats, I've opted to set an example here.

Regarding YoungTexan, I'm just going to say that this is supposed to be a community for people to discuss politics and in some corners, play a game simulating elections and politics. It's not a vehicle to go overboard on personal drama. I don't appreciate being threatened and just so everyone is clear, I will not take that lightly. If you have gotten to the point that you're threatening to sue a forum over something that hasn't even happened, in a game, and despite the fact that any release of information here in this kind of context will be immediately deleted upon receipt by an available moderator, then I'm not sure you belong here, and certainly not in forum-related games. That being said, if YT opts to come back to the forum at some point, I won't have him in Atlasia.

I'm willing to support tabling this because as i've said and that remains as such i'm not a fan of setting a precedent by banning users via constitution and as senator fhtagn has said he essentially already has a lifetime ban in Atlasia because of the moderators team.

I second the motion. It's redundant with a de facto lifetime ban which is incredibly unlikely to be lifted.

While I would still personally vote yes on this if it came to a vote, there's not really a reason it has to happen at this point. I'll support tabling it.

Senator fhtagn got to this first (great minds think alike Tongue), but I would implore the Senate to no longer move forward with this amendment. The Senator is correct that outside intervention has rendered the original intent here moot. More broadly, this got mired in back-and-forths over multiple individuals and past misdeeds that I see as unhelpful for solving what we presently face. Banning by constitutional means should be an exceptional, last resort measure when other options for accountability are exhausted or otherwise out of reach. Given that there are or already have been appropriate responses on the others named during debate, this has run its course.

Reconciliation will take time, but moving on here will be an important step forward. I commend everyone in the Senate for working through this sensitive issue over the weeks and speaking out for what's right.

As someone who helped inspire the original version - and wrote in the press defending it -, I wanted to take this opportunity to share the words of the President and join him in supporting that we table it.

Circumstances have indeed changed from the critical moments that we faced at the time of drafting, and though I have no doubt that us Unionists have very firm ideas in terms of wanting to address this whole crisis in a matter that prevents further strife in the future, I also recognize the importance of taking steps towards reconciliation with those who are open to it.
