BMI is a terrible measure and I’m a good example of that. Aside from a very brief period in middle school I’ve always been “underweight” by bmi, but that’s literally just my build. Like I look average weight and all and am healthy by all metrics (knock on wood) There was a period where I actually was at an unhealthy low and that’s very different so I can tell. The reverse is equally true for people with high muscle density. Bodybuilders on paper are obese. There isn’t really an alternative but healthy weight does vary heavily based on person. Not to say we don’t have an obesity crisis, just to say bmi isn’t the sole indicator of it.

But for the purposes of the poll under 19.
That being said I do want to see DaleCooper’s answer.

Yeah, I've been trying to learn a lot about physical wellness since I decided to make some significant lifestyle and dietary changes last August, and BMI isn't very useful except in the context of body fat percentage. Even Arnold Schwarzenegger was "obese" in his prime.

17.8, slightly "underweight", but as Forumlurker said: BMI is an outdated metric.

Somewhere between 25.5 and 27.0 (I’m 5’ 11” or 6’ 0” and between 190-195lb usually)

Been trying to lose a little weight but it’s not a huge deal. Not out of shape really (probably because I don’t drive, I walk everywhere lol)

I’m borderline enough and BMI is so finnicky (and bad of a metric) that I’m ok with this.

My old gym teacher showed how dumb BMI is, dude was built well but was also like 5 foot 2 and so the BMI said he was borderline obese despite being like actually in shape and stuff

I would be over 30.

But I swim daily and stay strong so BMI is rather meaningless.

A clean 24.9 as of last week.

That said, BMI alone isn't a good metric to measure overweight. Age also needs to be factored in, as well as does physical fitness. It's better to have a 26 BMI and be active than no exercise at 23-24. And 25 BMI in your early 20s is different than 25 BMI in mid 50s.

I hover around 24.5-25, but BMI is certainly a bit of an outdated metric, and not one size fits all.   I'm far from someone who is all that muscular, but I am physically active and lift weights several times a week.

24.1 with good BP (age of 58).

You can tell that this forum is made up of largely young people.  In the American adult population, overweight (BMI>25) is running over 60 percent, and obese (BMI>30) is approaching 40.  Add to the obese class II (BMI 35-40) and class III (BMI>40), and we're talking about serious issues.

On top of this, most Asians with a BMI>25 are considered obese.  Just another issue we have to deal with.

Dumb metric.  My BMI is 27.5 but I go to the gym 5-6x week and have no problems with blood pressure, cholesterol, etc.  I just PR'ed my bench press last week (340#!)

Wait, is there a different BMI scale for Asians?? That explains a lot.
