I Object! The incoming Senate should have a chance to vote on and amend this bill given its importance . Furthermore there's been a lack of engagement on this bill and this would also mean holding a vote over the 4th of July holiday, which is a bad idea IMO.

The 'effective by' date would force the South to hold at least three elections in the next 2 months (one to pass a new constitution, a new election in mid July that has to happen after a new constitution is passed, and then the federal elections in August). The 'effective by' date should be moved to the end of August. This would allow the South to sync elections with the federal system.

I'm under the impression, that with Lumine leaving the Senate, this needs a sponsor?

As such, I motion to allow the current vote to be halted to allow me to assume sponsorship of this amendment.
