Honestly, I'm inclined to write-in the Hillary Clinton 2008 campaign, for failing to recognize by around the Iowa Caucuses that Obama was the inevitable nominee.

In hindsight, if she'd deferred to Obama and chosen not to run in the first place, she might well have been the nominee, if not the winner, in 2016.
