 It's insane that there were a lot of people who thought it would be good idea to let NYC fail. It also shows an important lesson when we talk about modern cities struggling and how it's better to turn them around in the long run.

I lived through the era of Ravitch in NY.  He was a tremendous mediator and was likely the real Governor during the David Patterson years.

RIP FF.

I remember there was court fight at the time of his appointment as to whether Gov. Paterson actually had the authority to appoint a lt. governor. That was during the 2009 state senate leadership crisis.
