For your amusement.

Poll by "Fiscal Alliance Foundation" (ha ha ha):

Warren 34
Baker 49

Favourability results:

Warren
Favourable 49
Unfavourable 45

Biden
Favourable 52%
Unfavourable 42%

Trump
Unfavourable 60%
Favourable 37%

Seems like Baker is testing the waters.

Would be hilarious if he just switches parties and tries a primary challenge, rather than risk becoming the next Lingle/Bredesen/Bullock.

I don't think he's going to run, so this is moot.

That’s cute. He’d have a better shot in the Democrat primary than the Republican primary.

I would love it. It would be hilarious.

But the mountain of salt I take this poll with reaches the moon.

This isn't a Baker internal, it was conducted by a Conservative Think Tank New Fiscal Alliance and by pollster Jim Eltringham. Baker is the head of the NCAA (National College Athletic Association) and is probably booked with that, its highly unlikely he runs he wouldn't even make it though a primary in todays GOP.

I don't see Baker running, tbh. He could have easily won a 3rd term as gov or basically just hang on as long as he wanted to. He's most likely done with electoral politics.

President of NCAA is a real, high-profile job. He wouldn't take it if he intended to quit a year in to run for another office.

I don't think he will run because he's the president of the NCAA, but if he does, he'll be the same as Phil Bredesen.  He will poll well (even leading the polls until September/October) and he will ultimately run well ahead of the rest of his ticket, but lose by 10-15 points.

Baker more strikes me as someone who much more prefers being in the executive rather than a legislator, where things are moving slower and he'd have to deal with other things. I don't see him running. And if he did, partisanship would kick in at some point and Warren be the favorite. Massachusetts already had a similar senate election in 1996 and even then Bill Weld couldn't unseat John Kerry. Although he won reelection in 19944 with 70% of the vote. And back then, races were far less nationalized than today. Liz is safe.

Color me skeptical.

I believe he could be competitive in a general with Warren, but actually winning almost certainly not. He also probably would lose a GOP primary though you never know.

Not a Baker internal, and this should be removed from the thread title.

He's not going to leave a high-profile, high-salary job to run a campaign he probably loses and that, if he manages to improbably win, locks him for six years into a job that would come with a huge pay cut, awful commute, and that everyone who has seems to hate nowadays. Come on.
