This is a parody of the "Liberal cities/Conservative cities" topic Smiley

Conservative Rural Areas:
Well, just about everywhere but especially
Middle Texas and the panhandle
Inland California, Oregon, and Washington
The entire great plains
Southern Illinois and the rural midwest
and the list goes on.....

Liberal Rural Areas
some sections of Maine, Massachusetts, and Vermont
International Falls area of Minnesota
Middle Tennessee
the "Black Belt" in Arkansas, Mississippi, Alabama, and Georgia
Native American reservations
That one county in Idaho...

Middle Tennessee can no longer be counted as a "liberal" rural area. Kerry in 2004 was the last Democrat to do decently well in that region. Obama lost several of Kerry's counties in 2008, lost further ground in 2012, and in 2016 and 2020, the only rural county in all of Tennessee that voted for Clinton and Biden was Haywood. Middle Tennessee is now just as Republican as that Party's ancestral stronghold of East Tennessee.
