I'd be curious what that number would be if it were totally down to random chance, or, probably more reasonably, what it would be if it were down to random chance within, say, 5 miles of every person. Like, I'd imagine the #1 biggest contributing factor to that number being as low as it is is just the ongoing legacy of segregation and most neighborhoods, schools, workplaces, and common areas still being more homogenous than cities and states as a whole. If that's true, then really the rise of dating apps will probably do more to raise the number than any other outside factor.
