The latest poll shows. They love ❤️ this country, America 🇺🇸. Look at how the Yankees and baseball ⚾️ have so much patriotism and how baseball and hockey 🏒 protect the US flag..you will never see a Colin Kaepernick in those sports, the Republican executives like Brian Cashman, etc. wouldn't allow it. Why are Republicans so patriotic?

They're so patriotic, they even support an insurrection to overthrow the US government.

Yes, and they call themselves Patriots for doing that, why?

Because they're either hypocrites or just NPCs that follow this line without critical thinking. And because the Democratic Party all too often does a poor job in countering that false narrative. Many Republicans and right-wing evangelicals also call themselves Christian, yet many of the policies they support are anything but Christian. Love your neighbor, care for the poor and sick, welcome strangers? Only radical socialists support that!

A favorite tactic of fascists is to appropriate national symbols so when people oppose them they can be labeled as dissidents.

A new poll out shows less than 60% of republicans think patriotism is an important value . It was truly a sad poll and really makes you miss 2000s America .

When did a poster here change your mind about anything ever? If that is not the epitome of a fool's errand, nothing is.

The average Republican politician or grifter on Twitter? Definitely not.

They don't know what "patriot" actually means and/or they think that they (and ONLY they) get to re-define what words mean to suit their purposes.

If you have nostalgia for the jingoistic nationalism of post-9/11 America, you're sick in the head.

Every single authoritarian movement has described themselves as patriots. Every terrorist group has described themselves as patriots.

Well I have only fully lived through 2 decades and 2000s attitudes towards Patriotism > anything since.

I’d be fine with 1980s levels of patriotism as well though and would prefer that to 2000s but I wasn’t alive then so I can’t cite that

What specifically do you like about the attitude that "you have to support the wars in Iraq and Afghanistan or you're a freedom-hating anti-American who wants the terrorists to win"?

Republicans are partisans and nationalists. By definition a patriot defends their country against enemies and the Republican Party has defended domestic enemies.

I said individual attitude of people where people were proud to fly their flags , believed patriotism was a value that should be taught in schools , politicians would talk about how great we were rather than bash it all the time and in terms of entertainment you had shows like 24 as well

Bush is the last president whose speeches made you feel patriotic as well . So I wouldn’t say republicans cause Trump certainly didn’t do that . His speeches made you feel anger towards the country and make it feel like we were much worse than we actually were .

Obama gave speeches that have been commonly considered to have made people feel patriotic. I won't comment on Cheeto.

I never use the word patriot. I don't think any one party holds the lock on patriotism. I think it's an internal thing.

National pride is a good thing actually, it's what united the Union during the Civil War.

So true bestie. And another thing... why are Republicans' muscles so big? And why does their hair usually smell so good?
