I personally say no. He likes the attention. I get trying to reach across the aisle getting something done, but he should have let the Lewis act and single payer get done.

As I mentioned elsewhere in this forum, if he were on the general election ballot, I would vote for him, but I would not promote him among people I know. In addition, I don't think I would shed any tears for him in the event he loses either renomination or reelection.

Isn't West Virginia one of the reddest states? It isn't worth electing a Republican who votes against Democratic SCOTUS nominees.

Yes by default, because he's lightyears better than any Republican replacing him. Still not a huge fan of the guy though.

Well he asked ‘deserve’.
Not should he in a practical matter, but does he deserve it.

The former is up in the air but I don’t think it will shock anyone that I think the later is a hard no.

Joe Manchin does not deserve re-election, but the Democrats deserve a majority, so he should be re-elected.

This is the mindset that leads to people losing power.

No.

I want to reanimate the body of Robert Byrd and have him in the Senate for another 50 years.

That's not in the spirit of the question in my opinion. Yes he deserves to defeat any Republican who may replace him, but on his own merits does he deserve reelection? Not really, though there are worse.

Probably, but largely in the same sense Nixon deserved to win '72.

A democrat wanting democrats to hold political power is a dangerous line of thinking?

Thinking you “deserve” power is always a fools errand at actually getting power.

No, he doesn't, but he's still somehow the least bad person who could realistically win that race, so...

No politician "deserves" re-election, they earn it. Manchin has not, but the alternatives would make things significantly worse. He doesn't "deserve" it so much as the Republican he'll face does not deserve to be elected.

Manchin has won more concessions and money for his state than any other politician in his position plausibly could. For that I say yes.

No, but I'd prefer him to any Republican. I'd also add that Sinema is even less deserving of re election than Manchin.

I don't know that anyone ever "deserves" reelection, but I do hope he wins next November.

But not enough to prevent his state from dumping him next year.

Anyway, as others here have stated, Manchin doesn’t “deserve” reelection, but a Democratic majority is in this nation’s interest, so it would be preferable for him to defeat his Republican challenger.  Unfortunately, he won’t.

Manchin might make it back.  His service to WV is longstanding, and he probably has met more individual voters in WV than any other pol.
