Clear HP but it's cool to see how different some of them (namely the 2nd district in both of the states) are different from the state at-large.

HP, it essentially allows for the gerrymandering of a presidential election.

If districts were drawn by independent commissions and not gerrymandered by states to favor controlling parties it would be FF.  Winner take all sucks, but this isn't a good solution.

I think it's kinda neat that those states have this rule, but it's not gerrymandering and not a whole lot would change if they both became winner-take-all. Nebraska is solidly Republican and Maine is solidly Democratic in presidential elections, so promoting rural and urban representation is always a good thing. But this shouldn't happen somewhere like Georgia or Florida or Texas or most states for that matter.

That is, of course, putting aside the fact that the electoral college should be abolished altogether and replaced with a National Popular Vote with ranked-choice voting.

In practice it actually isn't so bad since it only really affects five electoral votes, but in theory it's horrid.

I think it's nifty, because it gives presidential candidates a reason to visit states they might otherwise have ignored. Democrats know they can't win Nebraska as a whole, but they should invest in trying to win NE-02.

FYI, if all states used this method in 2012, Romney would have won the electoral college vote, by 274 to 264. Six states that voted for Obama would have split their votes between Obama and Romney with Romney winning more districts than Obama in each of these: Florida, Michigan, Ohio, Pennsylvania, Virginia, and Wisconsin.

Fine in Nebraska and Maine. Keep it contained to those two states, though.
