Similar entities in development, poverty, and climate with very nice beaches, but Portugal's beaches look far more interesting.

Portugal seems quite accepting of gays and isn't so miserably humid like MS. Portugal wins.

https://weatherspark.com/compare/y/11879~32022/Comparison-of-the-Average-Weather-in-Jackson-and-Lisbon pay special attention to "chance of muggy conditions", Portugal is far more livable than MS.

I'd rather live in Portugal than my current state. What kind of question is this?

Sucky choice, but due to the language barrier and practicalities of my employment, even though I'd have to be licensed in mississippi, I would take the latter. Maybe some place in Oxford or some upper middle class liberal Enclave in Jackson if there is such a thing.

There is no language barrier in this hypothetical, but fair enough about employment.

Mississippi, very easily.  I speak the language, it is so much easier to visit my family/friends back home and some places in the state (like the Gulf Coast areas and Oxford) actually kind of fascinate me.  I think Portugal is "cooler," but this is more of a practical decision.

It's not like I would ever accept an all-paid vacation to anywhere in MS over Portugal, though.

I don't like being in the majority here but I'm a basic and, more importantly, Portugal is a Slavic country so I could get some language practice in. I also don't think I would do particularly well in a Gulf Coast climate.

You'd rather live in Portugal than Massachusetts?

I'm from Portugal and I agree with Baerbock. Why would you prefer living in the poorest country in Western Europe than in the 2nd richest state in the whole USA?

Free health care and less gun violence. It's an easy decision.

The first concern is easily solved by simply being employed or, you know, getting Medicaid.

Gun violence yes, there's not a lot here, free health care, well... yeah, we have that, but to be safe you should also buy private healthcare insurance, it could be useful.

Now, Portugal compared with Mississippi, well, I never went to MS but the quality of life and overall conditions seem much better in Portugal. Just look at life expectancy, 74.9 years in MS to Portugal's 81.5 years.

Portuguese is only Slavic by voicebox, the hardware is very much Romance (especially Spanish) with a few Arabic/Moorish applications running.

However, I still concur...but that's because Lisbon is pretty much San Francisco, but cheaper and cleaner...and Mediterranean Coast > Swamp/Bayou.

You could simply do both at the same time (New Bedford is definitely one of those places I must visit at some point).
