In 2056, American politics zigged and then zagged between Democrats and Republicans; this was never more clearer, than after 12 years of Republican control of the White House, that voters were willing to try change in multiples and opted to elect not only a Democrat, but a woman as well. So by electing Kay Alexander, the fifty something Senator from Massachusetts, she and her running mate, dispatched President Landon Howell and Vice President John Berglund and so Kay Alexander or as KJA made the best of her two terms, her Vice President Roger Peterson, a California Democrat failed to overcome the appeal of Stephen Burke, former Secretary of State under Howell; this Ohio Republican and Senator Sandra Hawkins of Arizona, ushered in eight years of Republican stewardship.
This map of the 2056 Presidential election, demonstrates the popularity of Burke's policies.
