What I wonder is by how much. It would be cool to have polling data on that.
One thing that often gets missed is the difference between middle class “working class” whites and poor “working class whites”. The former are the core of the GOP base while the latter I assume are much less politically active and less strongly Republican. Some guy who works as a welder and makes a decent salary is a Trump guy all the way. The “failure to launch” guy who works as a waiter or cashier often is in a diverse crowd, might be a big fan of pot legalization, and doesn’t connect with GOP talking points about personal responsibility or family. I’m stereotyping of course but I don’t think I’m too far off the mark.
