The thing is these indictments IMO have an underlying political motivation. They're obviously meant to martyr Trump and hand him the GOP nomination because he'll be easy to beat in 2024.

Or, you know, it could be because he's broken the law.

Never understood the whole "impeachment over a phone call!!!1" argument. Does he think that crimes can't be committed over the phone? When he was governor, did he use his powers to pardon anyone convicted for crimes over the phone?

What's in it for people who would protest? I mean, why should they risk their safety and their lives for a guy who would only be using them for no good reason? How'd that turn out for the Jan 6 crowd?

It's a cult.

That's not how enforcement and independent prosecuters work. And certainly not something they would present to a judge or grand jury. And some of these investigations begun before Trump's candiacy for 2024 was even under discussion. People just need to recognize that Trump broke the law (and not just one law). He either gets indicted and convicted, or some people just need to admit they want a king who's above the law.

It will backfire and the prosecutors know it. They are not doing this for that reason. Trump committed crimes and it doesnt matter if he becomes a martyr or if there are other extreme political consequences.

South Korea has arrested many of their former presidents. The United States will now join that club.

Even though it's unlikely, I hope that Trump actually serves some prison time.

It would be so funny if he goes down for paying a porn star he slept with to keep quiet about it.

Mark my words: Pence will endorse Trump if he is the nominee.

Marked.

I knew your marked post would be true for the 2024 election if that played out but now he's already trying to stan Trump re: the upcoming indictment just six days after your prediction.

RS are gonna lose NC, GA, AZ and FL and no one is gonna get arrested for him it's an indictment not a conviction now once Trump is convicted that's different and he can stay his prison time which the right SCOTUS will do until his Appeals are heard

Any political figure (implicitly) calling his followers to engage in political violence so he can evade legal consequences for his actions merely confirms his guilt.

Trump, seemingly panicking  at the possibility of imminent charges and arrest, escalates from random calls for violence to rather transparent WWIII fearmongering while appealing to Putin:

I agree.

But Democrats don't need to do that, Biden is going to win anyway so why do they risk it by adding fuel to the fire.

Someone in authority within the Democrats needs to press the off switch on unnecessary risky moves.

You wrote it yourself: "The Manhattan DA is an elected office"

Therefore in practice he's a politician that belongs to a party.

So his Party can press the switch if they want to.

Shouldn't DAs be accountable to their voters over their party? And besides, it's not like the consequences for this decision can come only from the right. You have to imagine if word got out that a DA could have charged Trump and decided not to only because the DNC told them to, that would be the end of their elected career, full stop.

Practically in Manhattan if an elected Democrat goes against their Party it's the end of their career, not the other way around.

It's one of the few places where it's party first.

I have a hard time seeing Bragg losing a primary in Manhattan because he prosecuted Trump. Remember a year ago the party got mad at him for putting the brakes on this case.

Bragg is an idiot who has done a terrible job so far (recall him prosecuting a bodega worker for obvious self-defense) so something like this is probably one of the few ways he can save his political career.

That by itself could be illegal and is certainly unethical. Pressuring a prosecutor to not indict is the same thing as pressuring them to indict.
