J'essaie.

Non.  As a red blooded Canadian with British ancestry I proudly forgot how to speak French after being forced to take it until 9th grade.  Less than 1% of the population in my region speaks it.  Absolutely amazing that it's still forced on us due to Quebecois nationalism and its grip on Ottawa's politics.

Yup, although at some point when I have more time I'd like to pick up a second language.  I've heard it's good for your brain to challenge it.  Maybe Spanish?

Honestly kind of baffling that Canada apparently doesn't require people to take French until graduating?

Seems like an obvious thing that everyone in Canada should be made to be fluent in both French and English.

Why? Outside of Quebec, New Brunswick, and northern Ontario almost no one speaks it.

Well you both share a polity. Ideally people should be able to easily share ideas and culture.

Ou est ton restaurant préféré?
Quel est ton restaurant préféré?
Qui est ton philosophe préféré?
Quand tu prend ton dîner?
Porquoi étudies-tu le français?
Quel glace es ta préférée?
Comment économiser de l'argent?

This my homework for a non credit French class which I am currently taking.

Oui...

Honestly, my German is quite a bit better than my French since I did live in Germany for about a year combined on two separate occasions in College.
