Michelle Obama’s let move campaign was seen by conservatives as nanny statists when she did it back in the Obama presidency. If it was done today, it could be opposed by the left for supposedly fat shaming and anti “body positivity”. Is that how it would be seen today?

The left would go after her for body shaming because even the mere mention of obesity now makes you a bigot. The right would still hate the food and show no support because she's Michelle Obama.

This country is so fat and no one cares.

RIGHT: "The evil libtards want to take away your sugar so the (((bankers))) can kill your kids"

LEFT: "Fat people are oppressed"

It would be seen as a very offensive thing. It'll be a while before we see a prominent political figure encourage people to lose weight again.

I agree that this country is so fat, everywhere I look I see fat people. There are thin people and regular people as well, but so many people are fat, I am amazed. But I disagree that no one cares. Everyone cares, they just don't know what to do about it. It's a change of mindset, like trying to quit smoking. It's hard to change.

This is another "Twitter is not real life" example. Only a rather vocal few on the left would be upset about it.

I was in fourth or fifth grade around this time and I remember Michelle Obama was widely hated among 10 year olds because we blamed her for ruining our school lunches. No idea how adults would react but I can't imagine today's children would like her
