Why has Biden not even tried to push for a Public Option since becoming President?

It could have passed via reconciliation.

Sinema and Manchin are opposed to a Public option if we get 52votes the Medicare age can be lowered to 55 and then maybe a public option

John Love and Kunce would probably support it and Brown and Gallego

But they would more likely go to Medicare 55 yrs old because of AaRP is 50+, like they did in 2009 and it voted down

It could not have passed during reconciliation, which is entirely related to budgetary matters. Creating a public option would be an extensive and exhaustive piece of legislation, similar to Obamacare. It is likely a Democratic president may be able to get it done sometime in the future, but that will also be a Herculean undertaking whenever it happens as it will require 60 votes to break the filibuster.

Because it is poisonously unpopular and has been rejected even by Democratic primary voters.

Right, you see Republicans voters all the time asking tax cuts over all the things Wink. And Republicans are approving draconian laws in abortion along the US, although Dobbs is a very un unpopular decision

He is a neoliberal bought and paid for by big pharma. He helped block universal healthcare in 1994.

because it doesn't have a shot of passing. He has things that are much more likely to pass that he can spend his political capital on.

It was absolutely not rejected by Democratic primary voters, Biden pretended to support a public option until he got the nomination.

Even the people posting dumb anti-Biden crap like this know that the actual reason is because it has 0% chance of passing and he doesn't want to waste political capital on a symbolic gesture.

They're sure gonna spend a lot of effort pretending they think differently though.

It would not have gotten 50 votes in the Senate either session, and wouldn't pass the House either now.

ObamaCare is working great. Life expectancies are down only 2.7 years in the past 2 years.

Just a reminder that a lot of developed countries have Universal Healthcare that is NOT single payer.

Single payer does not = Universal.

Germany. Switzerland. Netherlands. Israel. All have some type of regulated private insurance.

ObamaCare is working great. Life expectancies are down only 2.7 years in the past 2 years.

Can you stop repeating this drivel with the implication that somehow the ACA itself is lowering life expectancies, and that without it, these decreases would disappear?

There has been plenty of real in-depth literature on life expectancy in the US:
  • Harper et al. (2021, written right as Covid broke out) which take a look in depth at various factors and concludes that the opioid epidemic is the largest cause, along with suicide and homicide increases, of life expectancy decrease in the past decade. They also note that the "deaths of despair" notion related to the opioid epidemic, while having a media narrative of primarily affecting White men in declining areas, is even more applicable to Native Americans and equally applicable to Black men.
  • Aburo et al. (2022)which talks about Covid-related decreases in life expectancy across different nations, which is the most significant recent factor.

While I am in favor of universal healthcare, I find your obsession with Obamacare ridiculous. Do you honestly believe that absent the ACA, we'd have better health outcomes? Are you even interested in talking about ways to improve the health system, including universal healthcare, absent of what the ACA touched or didn't touch?

ObamaCare obviously needs to be replaced with something better.

The last three Presidents who attempted healthcare reform got their asses handed to them in the midterms. With a 50-50 majority, it's no surprise Biden focused on more popular and less polarising policies.

It would've never passed and healthcare reform has proven to be an issue that is politically toxic (mostly because it is very easy to message against changes to healthcare).

At the very least Sinema is opposed to it, and there's a GOP House now.

I think you see a push for it next election if Dems have a trifecta. I doubt Biden is afraid of the political consequences (see: student debt) and I think it'll be an easier sell than Obamacare but Democrats just don't have the votes to make it pass.
