Was thinking about this a bit. We have kind of this caricature of the Midwest vs Southeast swing voter, but in reality I wonder how different they are.

How do these two regions differ politically?

The Rust Belt prioritizes (opposing) free trade and the Sun Belt prioritizes immigration. Other than that, probably climate or environmental related issues, such as pipelines in the Rust Belt and water regulations in the Sun Belt.

On this note, I don't think most people realize that the Deep South major cities are generally more religious than Appalachia.

The Midwest probably has more true "swing" (persuadable) voters. The Sunbelt just happens to be going through a political realignment to reflect the dramatic demographic changes of the last couple decades. Nevada is a bit of an exception though.
