I mentioned that I went out last night and experienced sensory overload. I went to a politcal fundraiser at a bar (is it just me or are bars loud?) Anyway, it was trivia night there and that was one of the questions.

Of course, the problem is there are too many possible answers. Due to the piers I wrote San Francisco which was wrong. But, there is obviously London (or some port city in England), St John's (Newfoundland and Labrador, but not likely with the decline of the cod stocks), Tokyo, some port city in Norway, Newport, Rhode Island or some other New England port city. And that's just North America, a bit of Europe and a bit of Asia.

So, does anybody know the answer, which I may or may not have mentioned. And, does anybody know why this city is a largest fish market in the world? (Which is what I'm actually curious about.)

Agreed, has to be the Toyosu Market. The only competitors would also be in Asia. I wouldn't be surprised if the second-largest is also in Japan.

Fish is incredibly central to Japanese cuisine, the fishing industry is enormous in Japan, Tokyo is the largest city in the world already, and fish from Toyosu Market is shipped all over the world, making it central to the entire global fishing industry.
