And the first thing the House Republicans did when they got the gavel was denounce sOcIaLiSm.

GOP Clown world.

Socialism is an everyday threat to ordinary Americans and white supremacy is not.

TIL non-white Americans aren't ordinary

Socialism is a much greater threat to non-white Americans than white supremacy. (We're talking orders of magnitude here). They are perfectly ordinary.

Keep digging.

Socialism is a much greater threat to non-white people everywhere than white supremacy, again by several orders of magnitude. It's difficult to say how the US shakes up because both socialism and white supremacy are significantly weaker here than in typical countries.

Can you dig deeper? I'll get popcorn.

Your white privilege isn't just showing, it's forming a parade down Main Street.

The reason that you do not think this is because you are an ignorant and bigoted person, somebody who speaks only English and thinks the worst of all of his countrymen. In all of your posts where describing white Americans you have described them as ignorant rubes, and in all of your posts where describing black Americans you have described them as violent thugs. (Please refrain from making posts about Hispanics or Asians and letting us know how you really feel.) It is very mysterious to me that you remain a small-d democrat who believes in elections at all. I wish you took advantage of the privilege of being ignorant -- after all, as many wise men have said, ignorance is bliss -- but instead you choose to remain angry, for reasons I guess best known to you.

Are you seriously saying that Badger is bigoted against poor people? You are this close to openly saying you want to throw them into the sun.

Yes, obviously? In our conversation I've been advocating for policies (rolling back the social safety net) that would make their lives meaningfully better and which they very often/arguably usually support, while Badger has insisted that this is a cover for racism. In the past, when discussing black peoples' opinions, he has also expressed the opinion more than once that they are all violent hooligans. This is all very clear-cut stuff.

Really not sure how you can say this with a straight face. A large chunk of America was a slave society for 250 years, and a racial caste society for another 100. I shouldn't have to explain how that kind of history leaves deep, deep scars which take a lot more than the mere 50 odd years since the end of blatantly institutionalised white supremacy to go away.

How would eliminating the social safety net help poor, disabled people? Do we just kill them?

This is just hilarious. The kill count for colonialism (which was all about securing private capital for Western corporations and state firms) even exceeds that of Stalin and Mao combined. Add in all of the people that die today in tech companies' unregulated mines, textile factories, and capitalism and its partner in crime colonialism have a much higher kill count than socialism.

Not to mention that "socialism" in places like Brazil and India created massive middle classes where there were none before. Before you ventriloquize poor people from the global South, try to understand that at minimum a large minority would disagree with you. How do we know this? Every single one of the countries you could possibly cite as "at risk from socialism" has a socialist party, maybe even in power lol

While I agree the "Muh WWC is economically left" is not backed up by voting data, if you think poor people are ideologically in line with your economic agenda, I have some oceanfront property in Wilmington to sell you.

India middle class really started to explode when they ended a good deal of their socialist measures  in 1991 and liberalized their economy.

I was responding to the claim made that Socialism made India prosperous which is a laughable claim .

Anyway this point is so stupid given the US is the epitome of capitalism and it’s created the greatest economy the world as ever known .

Our economy is in better shape than the more socialist European economies for a reason and that is cause we have utilized capitalism better than any nation has in history

Rolling back the social safety net would ruin millions of lives.

I wish they would focus more on doing things than saying things. Words don’t matter. Actions do.

If the GOP has this much trouble with low-hanging fruit like this (and we all know how painful it was for them to support banning lynching), what makes you think they can deal with the more substantive issues like protecting voting rights for African Americans?

Blacks can already vote.

Only with increasing difficulty, making the passage of the John Lewis Voting Rights Advancement Act all the more imperative.

It would "liberate" them (from food and shelter).

This is statistically inaccurate, the US while developed is not the wealthiest nation in the world on a per capita basis.

Sigh, this isn't that hard. White supremacy is evil and bigoted and socialism is very bad, neither comment is mutually exclusive and it isn't an either/or thing like some ideologues in this thread have tried to make it into. I expect this nuanced opinion will fall on deaf ears.

Now with that out of the way, the GOP remains an extremely bigoted party, but this is not at all surprising, given this is the same party that gave us Donald Trump.

These votes are usually all about virtue signaling and an attempt to push some other agenda to score points against some political opponents.

The best example is the various UN votes against Nazism and neo-Nazism which the USA always votes against since it is clear it is an attempt by Russia to embarrass Ukraine

That's why they are gonna lose their Majority next yr they act like they have a 15 seat majority and they only have a 5 seat majority

You're wrong, they act like they have a 50 seat majority.

No, they were able to get Benghazi done with a 230 RH and ignore the people

But, there is a simple solution to the Debt Ceiling agree to R demands on spending cuts and put automatic Triggers on it when the Economy goes good or bad that's what Boehner and Obama Sequester cuts were automatic Triggers they can't pass a clean tax increase with an RH

Alright fair enough, my point is the GOP once in power tends to act like a party that has way more hubris than it actually does.
