Scary stuff - a fall can be very dangerous at that age, though we don't know how bad his injuries were.

Hopefully he feels better, but he should retire in 2026 or leave before.

I think speak for everyone when I say our thoughts and prayers are with Senator McConnell’s family, but in these uncertain times we need a full senate. Governor Beshear must appoint a replacement ASAP.

Beshear cannot appoint a replacement unless McConnell dies or retires; even then he can only pick a Republican.

All I can say is I wish him a quick recovery and hopes he uses this down time to reflect.

Alben said it best, but yes. If it matters here that a teenager with rich parents doesn't like Jimmy Carter personally because of... taxes, then it should matter that some people really don't like Mitch McConnell for breaking centuries of tradition and destroying our institutions. Mitch McConnell is far worse than Trump. Why? Because Trump was in office for exactly four years. McConnell has been in the Senate for almost forty years and counting. And like many cancers, he acts benign (well, relative to today's politics) but ravages the health of the country just the same. And he would be more effective in that pursuit today had a couple states gone the other way last year.

I'm not optimistic that the Republican Party won't replace him with someone worse, whether it's now or some other time that he finally is no longer their Senate leader. His toxic legacy is certainly not going to be repairable, anytime soon. He will be cursed by future generations for the damage that he has done.

It's not classy to wish bad health on people, and I don't see any good that comes from him suffering personally, rather than just failing politically.

At his age of 81, it's easy to break a hip when you fall. I hope that hasn't happened and that he recovers quickly.

Whole lotta cringe posting in here, we understand you all are perfect generic D who all hate McConnell and don’t hope he dies but really hope he’s in pain due to his policies, just say you don’t like the man and move on lmaoo, don’t need paragraphs explaining why you’re making the ultimate moral sacrifice by hoping a ‘politically conservative/bad’ person recovers from a fall

Best wishes for his recovery. Being political opponents is one thing, but he's still a fellow human being and doesn't deserve suffering.

I hope that he recovers swiftly, realizes the fragility of life, and resigns to spend more time with his family in his golden years.

It definitely reflects the state of those running the country that two of the last three Senate Majority Leaders have suffered serious injuries from falls.

All I can think about in this situation is that he will receive the best care in the world and won't have to pay much or anything at all for the care that he's receiving.

Millions of Americans aren't so lucky and a big reason for that is because of the actions of him and the rest of his worthless political party. Maybe, he can reflect on that while he recovers but he probably won't.

That's all that I have to say ✌️

Basic humanity requires you to wish him a speedy and full recovery, no matter what you think about his politics.

Beshear has to name a Republican to his seat, he can't pick someone from the same party.

Probably Andy Barr or Daniel Cameron, McConnell's protege.

McConnell isn't going anywhere unless he dies, so there will be no vacancy at the moment.
