What happens if Henry Wallace stayed on as vice-president and assumes the presidency after FDR's death?

He seemed rather populist and bombastic. Would he have the skills and connections needed to actually pass the legislation he wanted?

The massive Republican wave in 1946 happens regardless (and likely is even larger) and Congress had already been fairly conservative in 45-46 anyway before the wave happened so...no. Especially because Dewey probably wins outright in 48 with an even larger Southern defection to Thurmond.

With his talk of making nice with the Soviets, Wallace would almost certainly be impeached and removed from office as the Cold War begins.

Who would be his VP? Truman? Marshall? Whoever that is becomes President and presumably loses to Dewey (or possibly even Eisenhower) in 1948.
