Omnibus Repeals Act

LGC 1.11, NPC Recall Elections Act, is hereby repealed as NPC elections are no longer simulated.

LGC 10.29, Anti-Corruption Act, which includes various nebulous and far-reaching provisions, including a complete ban on lobbyists and an unfunded and vague "public election funding system", along with a "crack down on super Pacs and corruption" with absolutely no specifics, is hereby repealed for reasons of Vagueness.

LGC 11.20, the Consumer Protection Act, which creates an unnecessary independent treasury bureaucracy and forces Businesses to operate in "cooperates" with extraordinarily vague standards for organization, is hereby repealed.

LGC 11.40, the No Unjust Taxation Act, which unwisely lowers taxes on and thus encourages use of Tobacco, Alcohol, Cannabis, and other Recreational drugs such as Heroin, is hereby repealed, reinstating previous legislation on the matter.

This legislation repeals a still remaining part of NPC elections statute that we forgot to repeal earlier, repeals a couple of vague pieces of legislation from the last couple of sessions, and repeals a bill that lowered taxes on a variety of drugs.

Repealing the No Unjust Taxation Act constitutes a massive tax increase on working families. It is one thing to believe vice taxes should be increased, but to re-institute a totally unnecessary flat sales tax on Lincolnites is unconscionable. The government of Lincoln should stand alongside its people and not place an undue financial burden on them.

Seeing as LGC 10.29 and 11.20 were written by Deputy Christian Man, I would encourage he come to the defense of those bills (if desired).

Thank you governor and mr. speaker.

I highly urge the members of the general court to vote to repeal LGC 11.40. This act was unnecessarilly passed after we discussed reforms in the LGC 10 session.

I agree with Pyro. LGC 11.40 should not be repealed.

Was introduced by fellow party member Christian Man so if you really want to repeal those, do it in a separate act. But I don't want ppl voting against the act for other reasons.

Taxing cannabis lower than tobacco and alcohol is stupid and give the idea its completely harmless. While I fully support cannabis legalization, smoking cannabis isn't healthier than smoking tobacco. It's an act that wasn't introduced by common sense.

And a sales tax is healthy for the economy, as i've said before. In particular, given due to our inflation level. A sales tax can enable the government to lower taxes elsewhere. Compared to other nations, the sales tax is extremely low.

Sales taxes cannot be progressive, but big spenders will spend more on a sales tax of course as well, so at the end it isn't "flat" in practice.

No one has actually tried to argue in favor of LGC 10.29 or LGC 11.20 in this thread. While I am not necessarily opposed to the amendment, I do not see why it is necessary to adopt it if deputies support the bill as offered.

Comments from the deputies themselves would be helpful in this regard.

Motion for a final vote.

I am not sure if this has the votes or not, but I'm not going to presume deputies' opinions on an untested topic or engage in what would seem to be a negotiation with myself from an on-forum perspective. If this doesn't have the votes, we can bring up a more narrowly tailored version later, and hopefully this can serve as a reminder that people need to actually debate legislation.

You're fine with repealing 4 laws in a single bill when it's laws you want to repeal. Clearly, Lakigigar and Mr Reactionary support applying one set of rules to the bills they like, and another set of rules to progressive, Labor-introduced bills.

I proposed an amendment reducing the amount of laws to be repealed.

So stop lying. It's very clear what act i want to see repealed.

Also 2 of the 4 acts are not introduced by Labor, but introduced by Christian Man, know your facts.
