A term that popped up in the 90s to describe modern china, some use the term to apply to the USA, turkey, Russia, India

Do you agree or disagree with this term

While the core idea has some merit, the People's Republic of China uses this as a tool to bash Taiwan with. Overall I'm not a huge fan. It can be used to describe large states that control entire specific civilizations but most states, Turkey for example, are undeserving of the term.

I don't think the arguments that the PRC uses against the ROC is relevant at all to the validity of how you could describe the relationship between the Chinese state and people is vis a vis other countries. Neither here nor there.

The idea of a civilization state is overtly supremacist and a subtle justification for imperialism. The 21st century world is made up of independent and sovereign nation-states, none of which are more unique or exceptional than another.

Except Belgium. Every country is better than Belgium.

To be fair, the worst crimes ascribed to Belgium were committed on behalf of their German constitutional monarch acting in his private capacity.
