After Reagan is assassinated in 1981, George Bush selects NY Rep. Jack Kemp as his Vice President. The two go on to win reelection in 1984 and Kemp takes Bush's place in 1988 as the Republican nominee for President.

Meanwhile, Al Gore wins the Democratic nomination over Dukakis

Who wins? Who are their running mates? Discuss with maps.

Vice President Jack Kemp (R-NY) / Senator Bob Dole (R-KS) ✓
Senator Al Gore (D-TN) / Senator Chris Dodd (D-CT)

Bush more or less continues the Reagan Revolution with popular support maintained through his second term. Gore runs to the right of Dukakis, fitting the political climate better, but Kemp is still the preferred candidate on wedge issues like crime.
