I realize this is if famous people's lives spanned as many years as Dole's did.

There was no anesthesia until WWII and no vaccines until WW I I think you should put that in perspective they have gentivitas which can cause Heart problems. So when they say oh he or she died from a stroke and they smoked and dranked no TV until 1925 put that in perspective

1925 is the year someone would be born if they were to live to 98 and die this year.

World’s oldest lived person ever:
Jeanne Calment - 1875-1973 (-24)

Jeanne Calment was the world's oldest known living person ever, not necessarily the actual oldest living person ever.  This may seem like semantics, but it's not.  It's actually an important distinction, given that the vast majority of people who have lived did not have their birth and death dates reliably documented.  There could have, for example, been a woman in India who was born in 1860 and died in 1984 at the age of 124, but whose age wasn't reliably recorded.  Obviously this wouldn't mean she didn't really live to 124.

This is actually a pet peeve of mine, because news articles and even scientists make this mistake all the time, and I don't understand why it's so hard to get right.  It's like writing that someone acquitted in a criminal trial was found "innocent" instead of "not guilty," when those two things are actually not identical at all.

It is interesting to think of Teddy Roosevelt around to give the Eisenhower administration advice, or FDR around in the days of Jimmy Carter’s presidency.
