Does anyone here (especially among the GA posters) know why Brian Kemp supported automatic voter registration in the state? I know that he isn’t as conservative as he pretends to be and I’m not saying that it wasn’t the right thing to do, but that was a career-ending move if I ever saw one.
Obviously not from Georgia, but IIRC, he didn’t, the AVR wasn’t passed by the state legislature, instead the Department of Driver Services, the Secretary of State’s Office and the Attorney General’s Office implemented automatic voter registration on their own through the driver’s license application form.
