Daily Mail: Haley cheated on her husband with two men in 2010, according to affidavits

This is a tabloid website of course and I doubt it will have an impact since most Republicans made up their minds on Trump a long time ago, but if more credible sources report on it then Haley could easily underperform in New Hampshire.

The allegations are nothing new it was a huge story in the 2010 Gov race, it being rehashed probably lessens its effect.

I disagree.  If Haley pulls it off (and that is a big IF), the current pundit view of Trump inevitability changes. Media shifts to the "we have a race" narrative and  Republicans who are coalescing around Trump suddenly have another viable option.  On top of which, Trump's legal troubles start to add up.

Not at all.  Contrary to popular opinion here, not every Republican is a MAGA-lover.  Some ubdoubtedly are, but others are just opportunists who will back a winner and some simply believe in different things than what Biden and the Democrats do.  If there is an alternative for those two latter groups, they will take Trump's increasing legal hurdles into consideration.

This poses an interesting dilemma for Trump.  Does he continue thinking with his emotions or does he do something rational .  The possibilities include a) persuading Haley to drop out with a big promise (VP or major cabinet position); b) persuading Haley's funders to cut off the money supply (possible but he would have to promise even more to Koch brothers than to Haley; c) start an ugly defamation campaign against Haley (he suggested it yesterday) in the hope it will drive her out; and d) slug it out with a major distraction at his side (and a possible problem if he cannot delay his legal proceedings).

That last one is least likely - we will see what he does.

Here's what people are forgetting and what the pundit class is almost intentionally not mentioning. This is NOT a normal primary. When the frontrunner is facing 91 felony counts, is being removed from state ballots across the country (two already, more likely to come depending on SCOTUS) and is clearly deteriorating health wise before our eyes, ANYTHING can happen.

Nikki Haley is not stupid, despite what some Trump sycophants insist. She knows she'll never beat Trump outright. She's running a stalking horse campaign. She knows the hurdles Trump faces and that it is not out of the realm of possible that *something* takes him out of the race. It could be the courts, it could be his health, it could be something we aren't foreseeing. She has positioned herself to be the obvious replacement should he step out. And I get a vibe from her that she has insider knowledge that that WILL happen.

Apparently Trump has decided on a combination of b) and direct threats to donors.  If the donors for Haley hold, it is not a good strategy for him.

Oh, just wait until he takes office. Many of us, including his voters, will be barred from a lot of things. He's telling us what he intends to do. People seem to think he's just bluffing.
