When they conflict, what should receive first priority in the classroom: facts/the truth or what the parents want?

For example, if the majority of parents in a school district want the curriculum to include creationism or ban evolution, should they be forced to comply, or should the curriculum prioritize facts?

In terms of your two-option poll, the obvious answer is option 1.
But your poll/question does not acknowledge that facts/the truth are not always obvious; they don't always leap off the page. Somebody has to define what the truth is, when facts are not clear and obvious, but are disputable. The institution that should settle such disputes should be the legislative branch of government - either the state legislature or the local school district board of education. Not individual parents.

Obviously the facts, such as "Women have XX chromosomes." I'm sure Ferguson would be disturbed if angry parents tried to prevent the teaching of this basic fact in our classrooms.

I would never argue against that fact, just as I would never argue against the fact that there is a difference between gender and sex.

Well yes, evolution should be taught in schools regardless of what parents think because evolution is an established fact. A lot of the current school controversies don't have anything to do with facts and are about the school trying to teach values

The thing is a lot of people would say even this position was bigoted today and say that you have to say biological sex is completely made up.

Sure. One is a linguistic term and the other is something I do with your mom

What kind of a political discussion is this?Huh
Facts generally should be taught, not weird ideas that the Left is trying out. That means conservatives shouldn't be teaching that gay people are aliens, and liberals shouldn't be teaching there are more than 2 genders.

Wait, gay people aren't aliens? I could've sworn I was a quivering purple tube this whole time.

Obviously facts and the truth, though this is a loaded question
