https://www.nbcnews.com/news/us-news/teacher-shot-6-year-old-texted-dire-warning-loved-one-was-wounded-sour-rcna67290

Quote
The Virginia teacher who was shot by her 6-year-old student texted a loved one before she was wounded that the boy was armed and that school officials were failing to act, according to a source close to the situation.

The source on Tuesday said Zwerner sent the text about an hour before she was shot on Jan. 6, saying that the student said he had a gun in his backpack and administrators at Richneck Elementary School in Newport News weren't helping.

The text "showed her frustration," said the source, who only disclosed details of the single text message to NBC News and not the messages that came before or after it. "She was frustrated because she was trying to get help with this child, for this child, and then when she needed help, no one was coming."

This is unacceptable. They shouldn’t be school admin.

I hadn't followed this at all previously,  but the details in the article make it seem like a surreal film or novel.

A parent was supposed to constantly accompany him at school (and didn't)?

Staff new about the firearms - in a backpack - for at least an hour and no one just took it away (or, failing that, evacuated)?

What kind of mad world do we live in?

A 6 year old cannot legally have a weapon, so why was nothing done?

And when this teacher was shot in the chest and hand, she still evacuated the rest of her students to safety outside the room and away from the student with a gun, and was concerned with the child shooter getting the support he needs.

The system utterly failed this amazing teacher and person.

People need to be in jail or at least in permanent crippling tort debt.

Why does it seem like only the brain dead and incompetent have positions of authority to make decisions when these things happen?

These incidents don't happen when non brain dead people are in authority, so you can't read about it on the news.

Apparently, they were watching Dora the Explorer and Swiper the Fox was about the pinch Dora's stuff, and the music got really intense. The 6 year old boy got freaked out, pulled out the gun and shot her.

Swiper, No Swiping!

imagine the mindset of someone who wants to be an administrator at a grade school.  They want to appear to be helping, but don't want to, ya know, "deal with kids on daily basis".  Why the hell does a grade school need administration anyway?  A Principal and his secretary should be far more than enough.

I think we can safely say at this point that "administrators" have surpassed lawyers as the most damaging profession to civil society.  They are the primary driver of costs in medical care and education (certainly other fields too, but these are the two people are always bitching about costs over).  They don't do anything.  At least some (maybe even most) lawyers aren't the sh**t kind, ruining fun.  All administrators are evil leaches.
