FEBRUARY 2023 FEDERALIST PARTY CONVENTION
Welcome to Miami, Florida

Our Mission: Is the empowering individuals instead of government and the empowering of regions instead of the centralized state. We are committed to liberty and equality for all, and the checks and balances that protect both. We are committed to the preservation of markets and market choice. We welcome all players, both new and old and value their contributions to the game.

It has generally not been my approach, that one tends to find long term or effective solution through abrupt or disruptive actions. One did not see much in the way of positive improvement in the immediately aftermath of the Kansas Crisis for example, though it did certainly shift the political landscape and provoke some needed reforms to curb executive power and overreach.

On the contrary, it is my contention that it is necessary to have a positive proscription for the future action in order to materially improve the situation or place the game back on a sound footing. These measures have included maintaining regionally playable paths rather than allowing them to be curtailed by the Federal Government. At the same time, one can easily note that excesses of regionalism can also curtail playability.

If one is to seek and desire a path that restores and preserves a balance of playability, than we are open to working with any and all who come to table with positive ideas. On the other hand, when it comes to excesses that harm gameplay, it is my inclination to be firm. The memories of last year in this regards are certainly on mine when it comes to this question, but I am aware of the tendency towards over reacting in the opposite direction. Matching the extremes of centralism with the extremes of separatism.

The central government has naturally gone too far in many instances, and this party has for its decade of existence sought to preserve the balance and fight back against the excesses, even with an incredibly stacked deck against us until very recently. On the contrary, considering the amount of damage one has to unbury from, that we have come so far in the past seven months is astounding and it is my hope that this party will one again emerge victorious in February to continue that progress towards more robust regions and empowered individuals.

I wish to bid you welcome to Miami and lets have a productive and successful convention!

Time to start getting paper work in for February offices. Make sure you declare in both places (here and the candidate declaration thread).

Seeking the party's endorsement for the presidency.

Will have remarks up in a day or to if time cooperates.

Time did not, as it happens, cooperate.

I do not think that will change, we have been three years out of the executive branch and any time we continue to have here matters strongly in terms of being able to uphold the principles of this party. We showed that with the budget and with a run of other bills unprecedented in recent memory. And I am certainly glad that on that front our members have been putting into practice what I highlighted at the last convention, and bringing more to the conversation on AFE and elsewhere about said principles.

As Yankee said, the actual playability of this game is of fundamental concern and that must needs take into account people outside of the party. The Senate has done good work in proving that Federalist policies can win support from parties who share the same commitment to policymaking that we do. Now, I know perfectly well that the game runs on clashes and whatnot, and whatever the mood is on the issue at hand two days or two weeks from now I will continue to try to modulate that impulse to conflict. Whatever the disadvantages of a bleeding heart I’ve understood it is a pretty good thing to have when serving as the elected leader of many people who don't like me or this party. We are a welcoming party and we stand for a welcoming game, and I hope the folks here and everyone watching will make that statement loud and clear at the ballot box next week.

On behalf of the Tack/Laki ticket, requesting an endorsement. As senator (and VP candidate) i've shown a willingness to cross lines and listen to independent or other-minded voices, and we've been able to cooperate well wherever I believed that was justified or wherever our ideas were in line each other. On top of that, in the senate we've often been able to compromise even if initially we were not on the same page. No-one on the ticket has been tainted by the Kansas Crisis and we promise if elected that we will govern the republic in a decent, respectful and reasonable way.
