I'm fine with Senator Laki's "second" and "fourth" amendments, but I will object to the...
Third proposed amendment

Quote
FIGHT RACISM AND SEXISM ACT

Quote
1. No public school receiving federal funds shall require, or make part of any course taught at such school any of the following concepts:

A. That one (1) race or sex is inherently superior to or inferior to another race or sex;

B. That an individual, by virtue of his or her race or sex, is inherently racist, sexist, privileges, biased, oppressive, or responsible whether consciously or unconsciously;

C. That an individual should be discriminated against or receive adverse treatment solely or partly because of his or her race or sex;

D. That members of one (1) race or sex cannot and should not attempt to treat others without regards to race or sex;

E. That an individual's moral character is necessarily determined by his or her race or sex;

F. That an individual, by virtue of his or her race or sex, bears responsibility for actions committed in the past by other members of the same race or sex;

G. That any individual should feel discomfort, guilt, anguish, or any other form of psychological distress on account of his or her race or sex;

H. That meritocracy, market-based economics, or traits such as a hard work ethic are racist or sexist, or were created by a members of a particular race to oppress members of another race;

I. That Atlasia or any Region thereof, their respective constitution and bill of rights, their government, or their history is fundamentally racist or sexist;

J. That the planet Earth is flat rather than spherical.

(...)
Since I do personally feel like it's important for our public education to explicitly not promote ideas contrary to our constitutions and work that keeps our society functional.

I object to all of the amendment proposals.

I make a motion that the floor ignore all but one (of laki's choosing) of the amendments. Let's debate and vote for one at a time. This is ridiculous.

I object to the motion.

I agree with debating and voting for one at a time, in order if that is your wish, but I do not agree with ignoring all amendments. Queue them instead. Currently we are voting on WB amendments, followed by each three of my amendments separately, given you objected to all of them.

One of your "amendments" is a complete rewrite of the bill. Why don't you queue that up in the new legislation thread?

One of your "amendments" is a complete rewrite of the bill. Why don't you queue that up in the new legislation thread?

Because in the ongoing amendment vote (which is likely to fail) i already suggested or adressed that the act doesn't really fit as it is, tieing things together that imo should not be tied together.

I'm willing to remove the "proposed part 2" from the queue, if J. That the planet Earth is flat rather than spherical is removed from the act and introduced in a new act.

But this was suggested to me

Nay.

I think J and 2 are important curriculmn considerations and dont warrant a separate bill given we already have a big bill backlog.

So i'm getting criticized for some criticism i tried to adress, while I need the amendments to be separate given people might have different thoughts on each of the separate issues i have with the act. As a whole I have said that i agree with the spirit of the act, but that only this thematically fits

Quote
1. No public school receiving federal funds shall require, or make part of any course taught at such school positive affirmation of any of the following concepts:

A. That one (1) race or sex is inherently superior to or inferior to another race or sex;

B. That an individual, by virtue of his or her race or sex, is inherently racist, sexist, privileges, biased, oppressive, or responsible whether consciously or unconsciously;

E. That an individual's moral character is necessarily determined by his or her race or sex;

F. That an individual, by virtue of his or her race or sex, bears responsibility for actions committed in the past by other members of the same race or sex;

G. That any individual should feel discomfort, guilt, anguish, or any other form of psychological distress on account of his or her race or sex;

H. That meritocracy, market-based economics, or traits such as a hard work ethic are racist or sexist, or were created by a members of a particular race to oppress members of another race;

whereas I do not agree with G and H given they are "opinions" that should be allowed to express in the classroom (and do not target people individually based on identity). Yes, maybe they should not be in textbooks I agree with that, but they are perfectly valid thoughts if someone believes that. Opinions on that differ, and I agree to have a vote based on G and H.

If it is the will to address the other parts in my different amendments separately than I believe we need to introduce them separately (and my own queue is already filled), so I cannot do that, given they would not be tackled during this session if I do that.

Dropping/tableing this proposed amendment to empty backlog and clean up the queue, because it is the least important one for me personally, though I do believe sexual education curriculum changes maybe need to be addressed in a separate act and in a more expansive way (this is only one minor change to that), clarifying the sexual education curriculum in more detail.

Im close to mapping this debate out. Which amendment do you mean by 1st? The 1st posted is Laki-1 and it is currently being voted on. The 1st Laki Amendment today, Laki-2 is the one with the miscellaneous pseudoscoence theories. Is that the one you mean?

Lol. If you will bear with me again, when you say third one, do you mean the third sequential amendment, Laki-2 above, or do you mean Laki's 3rd amendment, about the economy and government being racist, Laki-3?

The third Laki amendment at the bottom of the first page. Earth is a dinosaur and our youth need to know the TRUTH about the shape of the earth.

Ok done sorting. WB Amendment passed.

If I did this right, I believe at this time there is 1 Laki Amendment being voted on, and only 2 pending Laki Amendments: Pseudoscience and the economy/government is racist. It appears UNL objects to the 1st, LT objects to the 2nd, and Enduro objects to both. I want to conclude the current amendment vote first, and then we can vote on both amendments individually and contemporneously. I will include the text for each amendment with a label for that both.

I will call the on-going amendment vote tomorrow. Currently 8 nays, and 3 abstains so its likely going to fail.

Ok, we will try this again with names instead of letters or numbers. We are voting on the 2 amendments in this post. Vote is open until noon monday eastern (like 53 and a half hours). Please vote Aye, Nay, or Abstain on the Conspiracies Amendment (which adds certain conspiracies to prohibited curriculum) and the Government and Economy Amendment (which strikes the proposed ban on teaching that the government and economy are racist.

Conspiracies Amendment.

Quote
(...)

2. Schools teaching the following concepts or spreading the following ideas shall be exempt from funding

A. That the planet Earth is flat rather than spherical.

B. That climate change is a hoax, OR that climate change does exist but is not harmful, OR that climate change is not man-made.

C. That the Earth was created by a supernatural force, and this in effect will ban teachings of creationist stories like Arc of Noah, Garden of Eden, etcetera.

D. That the Moon Landing did not happen, or was staged.

E. That Biggie and Tupac were not murdered and still alive.

F. That Adolf Hitler did survive the second world war and fled to Argentina.

G. That the global elite and government is a cabal of Satanic, cannibalistic sexual abusers of children operating a global child sex trafficking ring

H. That 9/11 did not happen, or was staged.

Government and Economy Amendment

Quote
H. That meritocracy, market-based economics, or traits such as a hard work ethic are racist or sexist, or were created by a members of a particular race to oppress members of another race;
