The police should shoot to kill these terrorists.
Some police are too busy shooting photos of the spectacle and having what sounds like a casual conversation with them?!

Maybe the international left should stop demonizing every cop and making their job more politically aligned and let them do their jobs without politicization.

This is what happens when you create fissures.

Their jobs are to protect the capital regardless of what they believe.

They failed at their jobs.

Which left? Far from every left of center party, politician or activist does that. It's just a typical right-wing talkpoint to make liberals and progressives look bad. Supporters of the far-right are far more likely to be involved in illegal activities, especially violence against law enforcement.

Yes, they are antipolice leftwingers and rightwingers. However, BLM, etc. is leftwing-leaning.

The "both side argument does it" argument is a lie and you know it.

The first ten days of January are cursed for Capitol buildings.

Okay, so it's already been said that the government buildings are unoccupied presently,  so there is no direct comparison in potential disaster to J6. But this note here is another potentially dangerous difference: Brasilia is not DC, and the police there one would imagine are politically slanted towards Bolsarnos Ideology. So whereas the DC police contained J6, I thinks there's a real possibility here of the police not doing their job and we then need to look and see if the military will stay loyal.

There needs to be a serious investigation of the Brazilian security service after this, this feels like an entrapment operation.

Some important differences between J6 and this:
-Lula has been inaugurated
-The Congress is not in session
-There is no way to overturn the election results at this point

This is more of a temper tantrum than a coup attempt.
There was also no way to overturn the election results on January 6 although the other points are very valid.

Hopefully the corrupt Congresspeople who planned this will be expelled from the House and Senate.

No legal way, but the timing was more opportune for revolt. Various politicians were there to be assaulted, Trump was still in office and - in theory - able to aid and pardon the election deniers and the election was more in focus than Brazil's.

Bronz, why do you hate the police so much?

I mean that sincerely, because from the way you talk about police, you seem to think very little of them.

From the way you talk about police, it sounds like you think that they're going to stop doing their jobs of protecting the public just because some left-wingers called them pigs.

Why do you hate law enforcement so much?

Far-right "demonstrators" (criminal, terrorists) invaded Brazilian congress. This is not funny here in Latin America as it is in the Capitol invasion on January 6th 2021. There was a coup in Bolivia in 2019.

You are the most marble-brained person on the planet if you really believe this. How deeply unserious and intellectually dishonest of you to blame “the left” (whatever you mean by that) after another demonstration of right wing violence and disrespect for democracy. You are not an independent thinker, you are a contrarian. This point you made here has nothing to do with the topic at hand, yet you made it just to do a both sides moment. Congrats, man. You’ve sunk to making excuses for political terrorism. Very moderate of you.

Is this the first time that a Putsch has potentially been plotted in a KFC?

The Chicken Hall Putsch.

Also the panoply of lawn chairs and cooler bags on display is really something.

Hopefully there's a bigger push to prosecute or at least kick Bolsonaro out of the country. He absolutely shouldn't be allowed to cheerlead this BS from DeSantistan.

If there's a time for US authorities to find a pretext to revoke Bolsonaro's visa, this is it.

Dude...your living in F-ing bubble.  The same F-ing talking points the left uses in the US is regurgitated in Brazil, Italy, Israel, etc. Every opposition candidate and their supporters is a dangerous right-wing extremist and Putin-Apologist that leads a group of racist, xenophobic zealots.  The same media articles always highlight as much dirt against them, while ignoring serious issues concerning the left-wing candidate.  They think you're out to get them, because you are to get them, whether you or not you do it with clean hands.  The hardline rhetoric of Leftists have engendered fear among Bolsonaro voters, and opposition parties across the world.

For example, The voters in Israel realized that the left-wing media and Biden White House were tipping the scale for Herzog after failing to take down Netanyahu with flimsy corruption charges.  The Democrats have seriously abused the criminal justice system in state and biased circuit courts to convict Trump of something, and they have dispensed of any long-standing preferential treatment of a former President.  Prosecutors have spent years fishing for some evidence, and going after his business associates.

In contrast, Lula was convicted of serious corruption charges and money-laundering.  The Supreme Court in Brazil changed their own evidentiary precedent that they recently solidified just to get Lula out of prison.  That's a legal Hail Mary. Every article pretends like Lula was vindicated even though it was a mere technicality.  Without a doubt the man committed the crime, and he went back to politics where he would be in a position to commit the same offense.  And this wasn't a one-off bribery scandal.  The prosecutor had powerful evidence to convict Lula.  Of course the public thinks a career criminal rigged the election, and everyone knows Lula's party is out for blood.  Bolsonaro left the country cause he fears imprisonment on BS charges. The left will justify anything to keep this guy from assuming office.

BTW... Ya'll know millions people in Brazil have been protesting for months. Immediately after election there were huge protests across the country.  Unlike in the United States, these people have many legitimate beefs aside from vitriolic political attacks, and they have nothing to lose.  This may be a legitimate insurrection in the making.  You brought it on yourselves.

AOC also requested Bolsonaro's extradiction
