For the People: Red Hot Summer

With the debate behind them and the rest of the summer months ahead of them. The "Kamala: For the People" campaign set out their strategy for the summer campaign. Although the summer was the time when the last Harris campaign fell apart, the 2024 team is hoping to see a major momentum boost coming off of the debates, including fundraising, support and endorsements.

The campaign has decided to expand their endorsement game, beginning to get in contact with Governors such as Governor Shapiro, who the Vice President campaigned with in 2022, Governor Evers of Wisconsin, Governor Kelly of Kansas and Governor Hobbs of Arizona believing a strong endorsement game in these states will shoot down any unelectable discussions regarding the Vice President.

The campaign is also putting a heavy emphasis on internet ads in early primary states in an effort to draw in the new Gen-Z Democratic primary voters who may be reluctant to support the Vice President. The campaign is being cautious with it's spending but not holding back either, sending a considerable amount of field organizers, volunteers and resources to these early primary states which are essential to a Harris win. Although some aides have expressed concern about the South being a Harris stronghold especially with Eric Adams and most recently Al Gore in the race. The campaign still floats confidence in their chances.

The campaign is also sending out the Second Gentleman, Doug Emhoff, to support his wife's presidential campaign. With the Second Gentleman's much higher approval ratings. He will travel to early states such as Nevada and New Hampshire hoping to bring the more personal case to voters regarding his wife, recounting stories including how they met on a blind date, how he proposed to her in the kitchen, and how they decided to seek the Presidency again in 2024. The Second Gentleman has a likeability factor to him with one young child at an event describing him as a "huge teddy bear"

The Vice President has also been meeting with her advisors to discuss strategy regarding the other candidates. Believing them have neutralized Newsom, at least for now. Their focus has now turned to Kirsten Gillibrand who Harris has warned "not to underestimate" as she has defied odds in previous races. The Vice President has been hesitant to attack any fellow female candidate, most especially Gillibrand in part due to their friendship when Harris served in the Senate. Although the campaign has put out testing polls to see where Harris and Gillibrand stand toe to toe on topics, including with women voters, young voters and seniors.

Another candidate commonly discussed is Former Vice President Al Gore, they believe that Gore will be easy to overcome with Maya Harris going as far as to call him "a rusty southern democrat straight from the 90's" which prompted laughs from around the room. The campaign although refuses to underestimate even Gore as they opened multiple more field offices in states across the South and have deployed Congresswoman Terri Sewell and Congressman Sanford Bishop to these early primary states. Their attempts to get newly elected Congresswoman Jennifer McClellan out to campaign for them was shot down as the Congresswoman wants to get more settled into her role before actively campaigning in a national campaign.

The Vice President has also been appearing at White House events more often than not with President Biden often standing to his side or speaking right before him at official events attempting to use her role as Vice President to paint her as close and a strong confidante of President Biden especially with unwelcome media reports regarding their relationship floating around. The Vice President often mentions the President in her own campaign speeches using remarks such as "President Biden and I, Joe Biden and I were elected..., etc" using their closeness in a way not many other candidates in the race can.

With the campaign officially kicking off into high gear and the Vice President fighting for her frontrunner status, every second on the trail counts and the Vice President is constantly on the trail attempting to stress her case to Democratic primary voters.

Gilly's In It to Win It: Minority Demographics Strategy
Accessed via Imgur

African American Strategy

The Gillibrand campaign recognized, from an early point, that she would have some issues courting African American voters to her side. Considering that candidates like Vice President Harris were in the race and utilizing their backgrounds to their benefit, she knew something more had to be done. Her campaign team decided it would be fit to launch a massive ad campaign on TV, radio, and social media in states with a large minority population and in some minority-majority districts in key states, such as New York's 8th district, South Carolina's 6th district, New York's 9th district (where she received the endorsement of Rep. Yvette Clarke), and Pennsylvania's 3rd district. Appearing with figures such as Rep. Clarke, Actress Connie Britton, and Gov. Kathy Hochul, the three barnstormed the NYC and Philadelphia metro areas. Attending local events, parades, house parties, and eating at soul food restaurants (notably in the neighborhood of Harlem where the Senator took her photo to be hung at the famous Sylvia's Harlem Restaurant. These efforts seemed to be paying off as the campaign noticed an uptick in black enthusiasm and interest when conducting straw polls at the events the Senator attended. Furthermore, Gillibrand is focusing efforts on getting more support from the black community through endorsements and appearing on popular black radio shows like Power105 New York, WUSL Power 99 Philly, and WGCI Chicago. Making these strategic connections, the campaign believed, would greatly help black voters get to better know Sen. Gillibrand and make an informed choice for President, basing it off of policy plans rather than race. Additionally, Gillibrand appeared at multiple events hosted by and for black women groups, where she presented some plans and background while incorporating humor.

Latinx Strategy

Similar to her African American situation, Gillibrand and her campaign recognized early on that she would have to make certain efforts to appeal to Latino/Latinx voters. One of the first things she did to not turn people against her was not refer to the group as Latinx and instead use Latino/a because of the taboo surrounding the word and the general dislike of it in the community (I've only used it in this post because that's what I'm used to and comfortable with). Appearing with Rep. Yvette Clarke and Actress Connie Britton, Gillibrand hit states and cities with large Hispanic populations like New York City, Miami, Tucson, Philadelphia, Boston, and San Antonio. Additionally, she appeared on networks such as Telemundo where she answered interviewer's questions in semi-fluent Spanish, showcasing her trilingual skills. Eating at restaurants like El Charro Cafe, Cosme, and South Philly Barbacoa, she also had her photo taken with the owners and displayed on the wall (with some of the photo's captions saying "Future President Loves Our Food!" She enjoyed subtle endorsements from local business owners and thanked them for their advocacy and continued work to help elect her to the White House. After continuing a similar social media and ad strategy with many of these being in Spanish and Portuguese, the campaign noticed an uptick in support and enthusiasm. The Senator was optimistic about her chances, and to help sure up support she attended multiple events hosted by Latino/a Americans, went on local NYC, Philadelphia, and Tucson radio stations, as well as launched new policy ideas related to Immigration.

Asian Strategy

Sen. Gillibrand committed herself to hitting home on an ethnic and racial group oftentimes overlooked by other candidates: the Asian & Pacific Islander (AAPI) community. As someone who can speak fluent Mandarin due to her studying abroad in China during her time at Dartmouth College, she found it quite easier to connect with many AAPI voters, especially those in metro areas like New York's 6th district, California's 17th district, and Texas' 22nd district. Although she didn't just campaign in these areas with large Asian populations. She appeared on Asian TV and radio networks, speaking in Mandarin, of course. She also appeared with Actress Connie Britton, who also studied abroad in China with Gillibrand, in the New York, Boston, and Philadelphia villages of Chinatown. Addressing these voters in both English and Mandarin, many were drawn to her as she made an active effort to fight for issues important to the AAPI community such as Poverty, Health, and Education. Taking photos and signing autographs with local business owners, elected officials, and regular people on the street, Sen. Gillibrand put herself out there as someone who could be representative of AAPI voters and all Americans as a whole. Perhaps one of the most wholesome moments of her AAPI barnstorm events was when, in Boston, a little girl ran up to the Senator and told her in Mandarin that she loved her. Responding in Mandarin to say the same to the little girl, she jumped into her arms and kissed her on the cheek while hugging her tightly. The campaign used this photo on social media and sent it to the press where Americans basked in her likeability, good vibes, and love for children.

Gavin Newsom - For a Brighter Future

"Look, I have a lot of respect for Congresswoman Waters, someone with whom I've worked closely over the years, but allow me to respectfully disagree with her. One of the main reasons because of which I chose to run against Kamala, besides the fact that if nominated she would lose the election, is because she wouldn't fight hard enough for racial justice, against systemic racism. Unlike her, I fought my whole career for communities of color, even when it was unpopular. As President, I will combat inequalities in the economy, education, health care and criminal justice. While I am not African American, I hope to prove to these communities that I will be their strongest ally as President."

These words were said by Governor Newsom upon being asked about Congresswoman Waters's statement. After a debate about which the Newsom campaign felt positive, he quickly decided to focus his attention on New Hampshire and Nevada. He started to heavily court the support of the Culinary Union and of casino workers in Las Vegas as well as Latinos generally through his message on economic equality and immigration. In both states, but especially in New Hampshire he will shift somewhat to the left, hoping to come off as more progressive than Buttigieg but more electable than Harris. He will engage in retail politics all over the state and give interviews in the local media highlighting his progressive views and accomplishments, hoping for some 2020 Sanders/Warren voters to view him as the lesser evil. He will soon release his health care plan in New Hampshire and he will start ad campaigns in both states picturing himself as an "progressive who can win". However, peeling off Buttigieg voters won't be forgotten. Hoping to portray himself as the main anti-Harris alternative following the debate, Newsom will focus a lot on retail politics and appearances highlighting his charisma and unifying potential, as well as emphasize his ability to win and his accomplishments as California Governor.

VP Harris celebrates 2023 pride in San Francisco

Leaving Washington for one of her favorite yearly traditions, the Vice President flew home to San Francisco to celebrate Pride in San Francisco's popular yearly pride parade.

Rocking out the festivities in a rainbow colored sequenced jacket. The Vice President's arrival was mostly up in the air due to Secret Service concerns regarding the crowd size, the Vice President's desire to ride in a convertible (sharply shot down due to incredibly obvious reasons) and simply Secret Service anxiety. A compromise was reached, the Vice President would walk down the parade route with heavy Secret Service presence surrounding her.

"Happy Pride!" The Vice President remarked to onlookers as she passed by waving to the crowd although this year without her husband as he is actively campaigning for her in the neighboring state of Nevada. The Vice President went out of her way to embrace young people at the event shaking hands and holding small talk, once again giving Secret Service another run for their money.

With the walk over the Vice President bounded the stage of the main event and embraced the 2 drag queens introducing her which elicited even more cheers from the crowd. the Vice President's remarks are below;

"Wassup San Francisco! (Laughs) and Happy Pride!"

"And let me just say I love a good drag queen! Let's see if I end up on Fox News tonight for saying that! (Laughs) But it's so good to be back home in the great city of San Francisco! And I am so happy to see California love is on full display here today!"

"So look! I'm not here to talk politics, but to reflect on this beautiful display of love, of hope, and of work that took generations but here we stand! I remember when it was a liability to believe in love for all. But! Here we are, the city in which Harvey Milk broke barriers and created pathways for members of the LGBTQ community. I am so glad to see that our work for years has finally bared fruit!"

"But just because we have gotten this far does not mean we need to stop fighting! We have a lot of work to do! And I promise that as long as I am on this earth I will do everything in my power to stand up and fight for the oh so often overlooked communities in this country, our minorities, those with physical and mental disabilities and of course our amazing, our diverse, our open, and our proud LGBTQ community!"

"So! this is only the beginning! Let's lace up our chucks! Let's fight for what we believe in! And although the tasks may seem daunting think of those who came before us, their tasks must've seen daunting as well, but did they give up? Hell no! They fought and they won! So let's fight and let's win! Thank you all so much! Happy Pride!"

After her speech the Vice President descended back into the parade route and danced along with supporters and onlookers alike and refused to answer any political questions posed to her telling the press; "I'm not here to talk politics, I'm proud to stand her as a supporter of this great community"

Ro Khanna debate responses

1. An Opening Statement

Well first off, i'd like to thank Drexel University for hosting us tonight, and to Lester for moderating. Tonight, I'm hoping that I'm able to put forward a case to not just progressives, but the entire Democratic Party and the United States as well. We cannot simply hope to move forward with "We're less bad than the other guys". We need to offer something to the American people. Differentiate us from the Republicans, and improve our country.

I'm running to present the ideas of the next generation of America. We are living in an increasingly digital world, and it is not something we can simply ignore from now on. But even on our worst days, everyone up here is more suited to running this country than any of the Republican candidates.

2. Raise your hand if you support the adoption of a single-payer, "Medicare for All" style healthcare system. (Say if you raised your hand and if you like, write one or two sentences)

Raises hand

3. The world is faced with the imminent threat of catastrophic climate change. This means storms, droughts, and more common freak weather events, rising sea levels, among other negative consequences. What is your plan to address this, mitigate the effects, and prevent long term damage to the planet?

We need a Green New Deal. We cannot delay this fight any longer. The Biden administration has undone the damage done by Donald Trump, but it's now time to move forward with future technologies. Renewable energy is becoming cheaper and cheaper every day. I'm fully supportive of increasing our investment in high-speed rail, expanding tax credits for electric vehicles to make them fully refundable at the time of purchase, and to match our adversaries in the area of public-private partnerships We are still spending less than China in renewable energy projects each year.

I have a track record in climate issues as well. I chaired the House Environment Subcommittee and have been its Ranking Member since 2022. I presided over the Big Oil Hearing in 2021, which was the first time that the CEOs of the four big oil companies-ExxonMobil, Chevron, Shell, and BP-were forced to testify under oath regarding their spreading of disinformation about climate change. That was the first time in history that they were forced to testify under oath about hiding the truth.

During the passing of the Inflation Reduction Act, I had many long conversations with Joe Manchin about the climate investments, and managed to not only help secure the $369 billionin said investments, but also helped to bring House progressives and environmental groups onboard with the bill.

I'm proud of my record on climate change and renewable enrgy, but more needs to be done. We need a Green New Deal, without delay.

4. What could we expect for the first 100 Days of your presidency?

The first priority of my administration will be raising the minimum wage. As it is, the minimum wage would be above $20 right now if it had kept up with inflation. It needs to be, as an abolute minimum, $15 an hour. Studies have proven that a heightened minimum wage actually helps businesses and the economy grow, specifically because people have more money to spend on things other than essentials.

Other than raising the wage, I would set an absolute priority on codifying Roe v Wade into law. We got complacent here, thinking no court would ever overturn it. We need to rectify that mistake by making abortion legal across this country.

Finally, I would begin work on an infrastructure bill aimed specifically at renewable energy. Increasing our investment into modern energy sources and decarbonising our transportation system should be the absolute priority of any infrastructure program; as I said, we cannot afford to lose anymore time in this fight.

5. Who is the United States's greatest geopolitical adversary?

I'm going to differ from my colleagues here and say China. Unlike Russia, China is not the most immediate adversary, but it is the most dangerous one. We have seen China systematically build up its presence in the Pacific and Africa through not military means, but by building infrastructure in these countries that have been forgotten about by the rest of the world. At international conferences, they are sending dozens of diplomats, we are only sending a handful.

China is using its soft power in a way we used to in the 1950s and 60s. They're aiding countries that we have forgotten about, and thus are making allies out of them. Moreover, China is the only country that has the means to challenge us on the manufacturing front, something that corporations ostensibly based in the US have been more than complicit in.

Russia is the most immediate enemy because of their illegal invasion and war crimes committed against the Ukranina population. But we must also be aware of what China is up to, otherwise we will be caught flat-footed.

To Representative Khanna: In October 2021 you criticized oil executives for increasing production. In March of 2022 you criticized oil executives for not increasing production enough. Which is it?

This is true. What must be remembered is that 2021 was a time where we were making excellent progress on renewable energy, and then oil comapnies attempted to increase their production, in my opinion, to try and beat smaller renewables businesses to the punch. The narrative they and their Republican friends had tried to create about renewable energy was falling apart in front of our eyes.

A lot had changed by March last year. The Russian invasion of Ukraine sent gas prices soaring, and the immediate cost was simply too high to the working class. People were struggling to get to work so they could put food on the table for their families. Increased oil production was needed to stabilise energy prices, and give us the chance we need to solidify our transition over to renewable energy.

LIN WOOD REBUTTAL TO KRISTI NOEM'S BRUTALLY VICIOUS AND SLANDEROUS ATTACK

Good morrow and good day, fellow citizens of Panem. A few months ago, I got a call from the Office of Governor Kristi Noem. They asked me to meet her at her office in Pierre. So I did. I flew to s**t state South Dakota on MY OWN DIME to meet with Kristi Noem, who I thought was a decent governor considering the fact that she is a woman. Right then and there, she proposed marriage. Because she knows the only chance of her coming to the White House is as my First Lady. She was very eager, but I declined her proposal. I have a very strict policy of only being romantically involved with very butch, strong black nurses.

Now "Governor" Garden Noem has the AUDACITY to call me a "non-serious" "joke" candidate. Oh, really? If I'm such a "joke," then why am I winning? The so-called "polls" from the mainstream radical leftists marxist Hitlerite Stalinite Maoist Clintonite Obamalation Medledev, YES THE SOCCER PLAYER IS INVOLVED AS WELL, Media have me losing. But someone MUST explain to me how when I conduct CHRISTIAN MATH, and not the MUSLIM MATH the radical left media mafia which Noemeo and Juliet is apart of uses, I WIN IN A LANDSLIDE! Also as well it must be considered.

In conclusion, Kirsten Noembrand helped Pope Benedict XVI (which, little known fact, stands for Xtravalent Vicious Icewater) sodomize those little boys. Anybody want some pizza?

Gavin Newsom - For a Brighter Future

True to form, Gavin Newsom has come out with a brand new healthcare plan, called "Quality Choices", which follows a broad outline of the "Medicare-For-All" plan while not being as disruptive to the broader healthcare system. The plan will be composed of 2 main components:

1. Open the Medicare system to all those who desire to enter it, the so-called "public option" and automatically enroll all uninsured individuals. The system will broadly look like the one described in the "Medicare-for-All" bill.
2. Allow private insurance companies to continue to operate only in an nationwide Obamacare exchange, with their plans having to comply with the existing requirements.

The Newsom plan will also cap the prices of drugs at the current price in Canada with the companies able to increase their prices afterwards by no more than the inflation rate. The plan will also prohibit insurance companies from increasing premiums by more than the inflation rate and increase the Obamacare subsidies.

Matt Gaetz Debate Answers

1. An Opening Statement

Good evening, it’s great to be here tonight in my wonderful home state. Eight years ago now, Donald Trump stood in the exact same position we’re all in here. He launched more than just a candidacy, he launched a movement. And though the partisan liberal DOJ has crookedly prevented him from running again, they can’t kill an idea. And that’s why I’m running for President, to finish the work President Trump started: to take on special interests and the Deep State, fight like hell for conservative policies, end wokeism, and, yes, after the nightmare of the last four years, make America great again. Ladies and gentlemen, you need to ask yourself, which of the candidates on the stage tonight have always stood beside Donald Trump, have taken on the corrupt Washington establishment, never bowed to lobbyists and elites? In my six years in Congress, that’s what I’ve always done, and just earlier this year I took out one of the biggest swamp creatures of them all, Kevin McCarthy. I’m not sure how many of my colleagues here tonight can say the same. I promise will always stand up for you, the hard-working patriots who, in spite the onslaught of radical leftist attacks we’re seeing now, make our country worth fighting to keep, and for no one else.

2. Raise your hand if you believe that Donald J. Trump is the rightful winner of the 2020 Presidential Election (Say if you raised your hand and if you like, write one or two sentences)

Raises hand. I think it’s obvious to any patriot that there was massive fraud against President Trump by Democrat governors and the Deep State in 2020, perpetrated under the cover of tyrannical Covid measures, and, considering how close the election was in spire of this, he almost certainly would have won if it had been run fairly. Frankly I question the commitment to fighting for our party’s values from any Republican here who’s not raising their hand, and folding so easily in the face of liberal lies and bullying.

3. Who is your favorite Republican President in your lifetime? (Keep your answer concise, 2-4 sentences)

Easily President Trump. He was the first president from either party in a long time to stand up for ordinary people, and not be cowed by the party establishment. He’s a fighter, a winner, who took on the swamp and delivered his fantastic MAGA agenda - whether it’s confirming judges, cutting taxes, getting fairer trade deals, or defending our country from illegal aliens, there’s something that every patriot can get behind. President Trump brought in a lot of new people who had never voted Republican before, and fundamentally changed our party for the better. It’d be a damn tragedy to undo all that work now.

4. The United States has an out of control inflation problem. The cost of housing, food, energy, and gasoline is spiraling, what will you do to control inflation and bring down costs for working Americans?

The main thing we have to do is get runaway government spending out of control. Now this is what most of the other candidates have said here tonight, but they don’t actually want to get to the root of the problem. See, while of course Biden and the Democrats are the main villains here, the truth is many Republicans are complicit too. I’ve seen it first hand in Congress, they add absurd and ridiculous spending provisions onto bills to satisfy their donors and lobbyists. Like with so many other problems our country faces, if we want to get serious about tackling inflation, we need to get serious about draining the swamp.

5. Will you support a national abortion ban? Would it be after 15 weeks of pregnancy? 10 weeks? 6? Or would you prohibit all elective abortions?

First of all, I’m 100% pro-life, and I think we need to be vary wary of the increasingly extreme rhetoric coming from the left on this issue, up to and including infanticide. I’ve sponsored legislation to introduce a nationwide ban on abortions after babies feel pain, at 20 weeks. That said, what made Dobbs such a great decision was it re-affirmed the doctrine of states’ rights, so ultimately that’s where the decision will have to lie. Personally, I’d support states introducing a ban after about 10 weeks, which I think embraces our pro-life values while recognising this is an issue people have strong and differing feelings on. We saw the losses Republicans suffered in the midterms when candidates started talking about eliminating exceptions for rape and the life of the mother, which I think is a distraction from the central issue of protecting life in the vast majority of abortions which aren’t covered by these exceptions.

To Representative Gaetz: Congressman, you were subject to a sex trafficking investigation, and while you are unlikely to be charged, this in conjunction with other allegations over your personal conduct has raised concerns over your fitness to serve. Are you fit?

When you say “unlikely to be charged”, let me translate: these allegations are 100% fabricated, probably politically-motivated, and have been dismissed as groundless by the DOJ. I am completely devoted to my wonderful wife and son, as anyone who knows me would tell you. Now, as for being “unfit” to serve, these are the exact same smears that were used by liberals and RINOs in the fake news media against President Trump. This is what they’ll call anyone who dares fight and take on the swamp, and doesn’t conform to the establishment’s norms of “civility” and “moderation”. Frankly, folks, I think it shows the bias we’re facing here that Neil has asked this question to me, and not to Governor DeSantis, considering the many credible stories we’re hearing every day about his personal conduct.

Gillibrand Unveils Climate Plan: Most Robust Climate Investment in History

All photos accessed via Imgur

My Plan to Tackle Climate Change

Polar ice and glaciers are melting at a rapid pace. Heavy rains are causing catastrophic flooding in the Midwest, leaving farms submerged and homes and businesses destroyed. Changes in our oceans are disrupting fisheries and killing coral reefs. Droughts and wildfires are threatening communities across the West, and extreme weather is leaving millions of people without homes and causing billions of dollars in damage every year.

We’re already seeing the effects of climate change on communities across our country and the world. Climate change is the most serious threat to humanity today, and we need immediate and bold action to address it before it’s too late.

The scientific community is telling us that we only have a short amount of time to act if we’re going to prevent the most catastrophic and irreversible damage in the future. But President Trump refuses to even acknowledge that human-caused climate change is happening.

Climate action should be this generation’s moonshot. To save our planet, the energy, talents, and commitment of every American will be required, from our farmers and workers to our scientists and entrepreneurs. The next president has to be willing to take bold leaps to lead this effort and stand up to the climate change deniers, polluters, and oil and gas special interests. I will, because we can’t afford not to.

So today, I’m releasing my official climate change plan. As president, I will restore U.S. climate leadership with ambitious and immediate action to enact the Green New Deal, mobilize $10 trillion in public and private funding over the next decade and set us on the course to achieve net-zero carbon and other greenhouse gas emissions. I’ll make climate polluters pay, transform our economy with good-paying green jobs, and protect clean air and clean water as fundamental human rights.

As President Kennedy once said about the moonshot, we should do this not because it is easy, but because it is hard. It will be a measure of our excellence, innovation, and entrepreneurialism as a nation.

We can, and will, rise to meet the biggest challenge of our time. Here’s how a Gillibrand administration will do it:

Get to net-zero carbon and other greenhouse gas emissions and phase out fossil fuels:

With time running out to address climate change, we can’t settle for half-measures. That’s why I was one of the first supporters of the Green New Deal, an ambitious framework to save our planet by investing in infrastructure, creating a green jobs economy, and protecting clean air and water.

As president, I will also work to get us to net-zero carbon and other greenhouse gas emissions — nationwide and across the economy. We must set our ambitions high and aim to achieve net-zero emissions in the next decade, and we will put enforceable standards in place to ensure our whole economy meets net-zero emissions no later than 2050.

In a decade, I’ll strive to get us to 100% clean, renewable, and zero-carbon electricity, and I’ll prioritize transforming our electric grid into a system that’s designed to better handle renewable and distributed energy.

We can tackle a huge percentage of our carbon and other greenhouse gas emissions by focusing on the transportation sector, so as president, I will phase in new vehicle emission standards to require newly manufactured cars and other vehicles to be zero-emission by the end of the next decade. I’ll invest in building out electric vehicle-charging infrastructure to meet the new demand and prioritize transportation funding for high-speed rail, public transit, and bicycle and pedestrian infrastructure.

But reducing the consumption of fossil fuels isn’t enough. We have to phase out production — starting now. As president, I will immediately issue an executive order to end all new fossil fuel leases on public lands and the Outer Continental Shelf. I will end all hydraulic fracturing (fracking) on public lands and support restrictions on all fracking in other environmentally sensitive locations and near homes, schools, and agricultural areas. On private lands, I will direct the EPA to set stronger health and safety regulations and close the “Halliburton loophole” that exempts fracking from the Safe Drinking Water Act. I’ll also end fossil fuel exports that are contributing to climate pollution overseas.

I’d make sure the federal government leads by example on this in all areas. I’ll set up a federal “buy clean” standard to reduce our reliance on carbon-intensive products for federal infrastructure projects. And I will require a climate analysis for all new major energy infrastructure projects so that we’re only permitting projects consistent with our net-zero carbon and other greenhouse gas emissions goal.

Our nation’s infrastructure must also be rebuilt to be more resilient to the impacts of climate change. I will direct federal agencies to establish resiliency standards and require that all federally funded infrastructure projects are designed to withstand the impacts of climate change, sea-level rise, and extreme weather. Finally, any major new construction projects should be required to meet efficiency standards — and when we make repairs to buildings that have already been constructed, those retrofits should be energy-efficient, too.

Put a price on carbon and hold polluters accountable:

For far too long, the fossil fuel industry has been allowed to pump greenhouse gases into our atmosphere with little restraint. All the while, they’ve raked in billions in profits — leaving communities across the country to pay for the consequences left behind. That’s why I’m proud to have taken the No Fossil Fuel Money pledge — my campaign does not accept contributions from oil, gas, or coal industries or their executives.

Polluters should be held responsible for the messes they make. So as president, I will create a Climate Change Mitigation Trust Fund, funded by an excise tax on fossil fuel production to generate $100 billion annually for climate mitigation projects. The fossil fuel industry — not taxpayers — will pay for projects to lessen the effects of sea-level rise, extreme weather, and other climate-related disasters.

And I’ll put a meaningful price on carbon — starting at $52 per metric ton — to steer companies away from fossil fuels and toward investment in clean and renewable energy. The revenue generated from this carbon tax, estimated at more than $200 billion annually, will then go directly back into our country’s transition to renewable energy.

American taxpayers shouldn’t be subsidizing an industry built on greed that’s destroying communities’ health and the planet. So I will work with Congress to end federal subsidies, including tax subsidies, for the fossil fuel industry. And I’d implement new tax credits to speed up the deployment of clean and renewable energy and energy storage technologies.

Build a green jobs economy:

Americans have always been innovators, and it’s time to unleash our innovative potential to tackle climate change. I envision a new American industrial age — structured around the green economy and green jobs — that puts working people first, revitalizes our struggling communities, and repairs our infrastructure while reducing our carbon footprint. Building a green economy can create local jobs in every community of the country, confronting the crisis we face with climate change and an economy that has left too many Americans behind.

Even as we phase out fossil fuels and rein in industry greed, we can’t forget the hardworking Americans who depend on those jobs. I will harness the talent of these displaced workers to build a clean energy economy: I will establish a “green jobs recovery fund” to help affected communities build new opportunities. And I will prioritize clean technology jobs as part of a major national investment in communities hit hardest by the decline of the industry — including regions facing persistent poverty, rural areas in population decline, and frontline communities. I will ensure wage and benefit replacements are guaranteed for displaced workers, and make it easier for workers who are near the end of their career to find paths to retirement. We’ll also protect the health care and retirement funds of retired miners and strengthen the Black Lung Disability Trust Fund.

We must make it a priority to ensure green jobs are good jobs. Any federal investment in clean energy job creation will be coupled with strong job standards like prevailing wage and union neutrality protections, as well as use of project labor and community benefit agreements.

This new green economy can be a massive source of opportunity — and we’ll make it available to the people who need it most. We’ll target our hiring preferences to ensure that underrepresented populations and people who face barriers to employment have access to union apprenticeships in high-quality green jobs. And I will create a Conserve America Corps that builds on the legacy of the New Deal’s Civilian Conservation Corps. We should give young people the opportunity to serve in protecting and preserving our land, forests, water, and other critical natural resources, and be rewarded for those efforts with on-the-job skills training and assistance to pay for college, a down payment on a home, or to start a business.

I’ll ensure the clean technologies of this new industrial age are manufactured by American workers, not by China or another competitor. I will establish a “New Frontiers in Clean Energy” cross-government initiative to develop the innovations that have the greatest potential for getting us to net-zero carbon and other greenhouse gas emissions. I’ll require those technologies — anything from high-performance solar cells and technologies to improve energy efficiency in buildings to energy storage and clean carbon-capture technologies — to be made right here in the United States by American workers.

Prioritize rural advancement, frontline communities, and marginalized voices:

Rural America’s farmers, manufacturers, and innovators are absolutely essential to our country confronting climate change. We should empower rural leaders to embrace clean energy as a way to cut costs, create jobs, and steward our natural resources. My plan envisions a rural energy revolution to help our rural communities adapt to and prepare for the effects of climate change, and build a sustainable, green economy.

As president, I’ll invest in rural America to protect the nation’s critical natural resources and support our rural leaders on the frontlines of the fight against climate change. I’ll create a Rural Resiliency Fund to help rural communities make their infrastructure more resilient to the effects of climate change, invest in disaster preparedness, and recover from natural disasters. I will also make resiliency a top priority of USDA research and agricultural support programs, and partner with our land-grant universities and extension service. We will support a transition to diversified, sustainable food systems that makes our farmers more resilient to climate and market forces. Extension networks will help farmers take advantage of new opportunities in clean energy production, including advanced biofuels, and help fishing and forestry communities adopt sustainable practices and build new markets.

During the New Deal, our country made it a priority to bring electricity to every corner of the country. It’s time to modernize that plan. I will invest $100 billion in building a more resilient, efficient, secure energy grid that is essential to clean energy distribution — which will also keep energy local to provide sustainable power to family farms and local businesses. Working with partners like rural electric cooperatives, I will make a major investment to build a smart grid across rural America while also expanding high-speed internet access to provide universal access to the fiber connections this new grid requires.

And while the effects of our changing climate are universal, there is a disparate effect on the quality of life and economic stability in communities of color and low-income communities — which have had the least hand in creating the climate crisis.

You can’t address climate change without a plan seeking climate justice. We must ensure that we prioritize climate investments in communities that have been historically left behind and those at the front lines of climate change and pollution. This means taking action to eliminate the sources of pollution in these communities and prioritize funding for efforts to clean up legacy contamination. It also means ensuring that frontline communities and workers have a seat at the table in developing and implementing our climate policies to ensure that they are fair and equitable.

My administration will respect and uphold the rights of indigenous communities. I will direct federal agencies not to approve major projects that would traverse or disrupt Tribal lands without first seeking and obtaining the informed consent of the affected Tribal governments.

Lead a 21st-century clean energy international “space race”
Climate change cannot be solved by one nation alone: The world must work together to save the planet we all share. America should be leading that effort, not retreating from it.

Scientists have been very clear: We need to globally achieve net-zero emissions by 2050 and keep global temperatures from rising. So I will restore our global leadership on climate change and rejoin the Paris Climate Agreement on day one of my presidency. But I won’t stop there.

When President John F. Kennedy started the space race, he didn’t know if he could get to the moon within ten years. But he did know that by challenging Russia, he would galvanize all Americans to support the mission to get to the moon first. Why not challenge China to a clean energy competition for this generation?

So let’s commit to a 21st-century clean energy “space race,” where we decarbonize our economies through innovation and investment at a scale that rises to meet the global challenge we face. I’ll put the entrepreneurs and innovators of America up against anybody, anywhere, anytime — because I know we’ll win.

Further, as one of the world’s largest emitters of greenhouse gasses, our nation has a responsibility to help developing countries adapt, because they are experiencing some of the most immediate and devastating impacts of climate change. I’ll ensure that we meet our commitments to the Green Climate Fund and other international institutions that fund climate mitigation efforts overseas.

And I’ll guarantee that trade agreements negotiated by my administration include strong climate and environmental provisions, and that the U.S. is leading the world in exporting clean technologies and renewable energy products.

Protect clean air, clean water, and public lands:

The Flint water crisis should have been a nationwide wakeup call on environmental injustice. Millions of Americans lack access to clean water and clean air — and low-income communities and communities of color have borne the brunt of those health and economic disparities.

Clean air and clean water should be a fundamental human right for all Americans — regardless of who they are, where they live, or how much money they make. With Donald Trump in the White House, we’ve seen an unprecedented rollback of environmental protections — a gift to the fossil fuel industry and other big polluters. As president, I’ll restore and strengthen Clean Air Act regulations and reverse the Trump administration’s attacks on the Clean Water Act.

I’ve passed legislation in the Senate to address contamination of PFAS in our drinking water around military bases, an issue I’ve championed for years starting with the drinking water crisis in Hoosick Falls, New York — and as president, I’ll work to remove these chemicals nationwide. I also introduced the Promoting Infrastructure and Protecting the Economy (PIPE) Act to create a $5 billion federal water infrastructure grant program to help communities address urgent water projects. (Read more about my plan to help Flint, Michigan and prevent future water crises here.)

Lastly, I will support full funding for the Land and Water Conservation Fund and our nation’s national park maintenance backlog, ensuring families everywhere have access to our nation’s greatest treasures. I’ll protect the integrity of the Antiquities Act by preserving our existing national monuments and protecting additional lands and waters of national significance. And I will protect our public lands from exploitation by banning any new fossil fuel production on public lands and phasing out existing leases.

When I visited Iowa in April, I met Fran and Jason Parr, who showed me around their home to see the devastating flood damage there. Families and farmers have been hit by historic flooding in places along the Missouri and Mississippi rivers this year, while communities like Cedar Rapids know this devastation all too well.

It’s hard to put into words what families like these have experienced: They’ve lost their homes, belongings, crops, and their land has been ruined by river water and sewage. Many will have to start completely over, but they aren’t broken down. Americans are resilient, and we know how to lift each other up and rebuild, even in the worst of times.

This story repeats itself across our country anytime a natural disaster strikes — whether it’s flooding in the Midwest, fires in California, or storms in the South and Puerto Rico. And we know that extreme weather will only increase in frequency and severity as our climate keeps changing. To truly protect our communities, we can’t just stay in the cycle of disaster and recovery — we have to honestly reckon with the challenge we face, and take action with courage and determination.

Climate change is the single greatest threat to humanity we’ve ever faced, but we can’t react with fear — we must be brave. We should set ambitious goals, enact transformative change on our economy, seize the opportunity of new technology, and lead the world in innovation. That’s what America has always done, and I believe we can do it again.

There is no higher-stakes fight than this one. We aren’t just working to protect jobs and communities; we’re called, right now, to save our planet. We can’t afford to delay or take half-steps. Together, we can face this challenge head-on and safeguard the future for the generations to come after us. As president, I’ll get it done.

Notes: This 30-second commercial, aired statewide in Iowa, is Team Hawley's first TV ad of the 2024 campaign. It presents Hawley's basic pitch to voters in the midwest: a direct appeal to both economically anxious and values-based voters (which tend to overlap), making a Trumpian diagnosis of the American forgotten working class while playing into Hawley's small-town roots and conservative values. It also highlights his work in the Senate, characterizing him as a defiant fighter with a streak of standing up for the party's rank-and-file. By getting his name and message out there, Team Hawley thinks this ad can springboard the campaign's ground-game in Iowa.

Gillibrand Ad: Impossible
Aired in IA, NH, MA, NY
All images accessed via Imgur

I want to get money out of politics. There's a lot of political corruption and we know that anything we want to accomplish there's always something or someone standing in the way. The corrupt special interests, the greed, the lies.

As soon as you get money out of politics, it changes everything.

I will codify Roe, repeal the Hyde Amendment.

Only appointed judges and justices that believe Roe v. Wade is settled precedent.

I will not only re-engage on the global climate accords, but I will lead the nationwide and global conversation.

When John F. Kennedy said, I want to put a man on the moon, he did not know he could get a man on the moon, in ten years. But he knew it would be a measure of our innovation, our competitiveness.

I will start a green energy race with China. You make it a measure of our success.

I would have a community-based asylum process. We have real immigration judges so that we can have a comprehensive and thoughtful system.

The Family Bill of Rights: The right to a healthy and safe pregnancy. National paid leave, a safe and affordable nursery, give birth or adopt a child. Affordable day care and universal pre-k.

I will make sure if you would like a third gender on any federal license that you may put an X. Guarantee your right to adopt a child. Guarantee your right to IVF treatments. Guarantee your transgender treatments.

Guarantee Medicare for All. Guarantee a single-payer system. I know how to get it done.

Nothing was done after Sandy Hook, after Charleston, after Las Vegas. I will make sure we have universal background checks, ban the large magazines, the assault rifles, the military-style weapons.

I would legalize marijuana, de-criminalize marijuana, and I would de-schedule marijuana.

If you really want to get something done, just tell me it's impossible and I'll get it done.

Gov. Haley's Rebuttal
Quote
Governor Noem, with all due respect, what you said is simply not true.  I was governor of South Carolina for six years before Donald Trump was elected and was considered a rising star in the party even then.  I'm proud of my service in the Trump Administration, but let's be real: it was Reagan who brought most of us into the GOP in the first place.

Haley Campaign Ad: "American Dream"
Airing in Iowa, New Hampshire, South Carolina and Nevada (including a Spanish-language version in Nevada)

Quote
Leftists love to tell us that America is built on white supremacy and unearned privilege.

Quote
As the daughter of Indian immigrants, I know that's not true because I've lived the American dream for myself.

Quote
I was proud to serve as Governor of South Carolina for six years, cutting taxes and spending and improving public schools. For four years I served as President Trump's UN Ambassador, fighting for American and our allies and standing up to bullies and tyrants.

Quote
I want to be your next president because I will fight for conservative values.  I will fight for lower taxes and the sanctity of preborn life.  I stand up for the sovereignty of Israel and America's national security.  I will fight like hell by telling our enemies at home and abroad to go TO hell.
And I will fight to ban woke race, sex, and gender ideology from our schools.

Quote
I'm Nikki Haley, and I approve this message because sometimes, it takes a woman to do the hard work that our country needs.

Nikki Haley's Black Outreach
A memo leaked over the summer by the Haley campaign shows that the former South Carolina governor and UN Ambassador is hoping to shore up her support in her home state by expanding her outreach to the state's large black population.  The message suggests that Haley will emphasize her support for school choice and law enforcement as well as her decision in 2015 to sign legislation removing the Confederate flag from the grounds of the state Capitol to position herself as a candidate who understands the interests of black voters; she will also emphasize how critical race theory in schools reinstates racial segregation and her desire to push back against it.  "We are the Party of Lincoln, the party that freed the slaves and ended Jim Crow," the memo reads, "And we will never allow racial segregation to be re-established in the name of 'equity.'"

Statement from Kari Lake
Quote
Kristi Noem, who is at 2% and dropping in the polls, is one of the biggest phonies in the race so far. You look at what she's done to South Dakota, and it's horrific. They're bleeding jobs left and right. Young people are heading for the hills. She can't lead folks. She can't lead.

The other day, excuse me, the other day, Kristi goes out on stage in front of this tiny crowd and she's squaking about all sorts of things. All sorts of things. She attacks me for voting for John Kerry. "Why would anyone do that? Why wouldn't you vote for George Bush?" He was such a great guy, they all swear. Even though, if you go back and look, George Bush is basically a Democrat now. He endorsed Trump's enemies. He's gone out into the world and praised all sorts of Democrats. But none of these Republicans ever bring that up. They never do. No. They want you to swear fealty to the guy in charge. They don't want you to think for yourself. Kristi, she's been told to vote a certain way all her life, and that's all she does. You could put a crop duster in charge of South Dakota and he would make way better choices than Kristi. Way better.

Why did I vote for John Kerry? Let me tell you, go back to 2004. Where were we? Where was our country? We were in Iraq. We were in the desert, and we were led there by George Bush. He told everyone, he told Americans, "it'll be quick, you'll see! This guy has WMD's! We have to send our boys off to war! Our mission is accomplished!" But it wasn't accomplished folks. It was never accomplished. We wasted trillions and trillions of dollars on that war. We lost thousands of American troops in, really, hell on earth. Hell on earth. And what do we have to show for it? Nothing! Nothing. We got ISIS. You remember them? ISIS? We got them alright. That was our "thank you" from Iraq. By the way, Trump, he gets no credit from people for destroying them. He crushed them in a year. That's a leader. That's a leader. He made his own decisions. He made them.

These people, they have no self respect. I'm the bad guy because I didn't vote for that disaster. I'm the bad guy because I don't think like they do. Kristi, she's told to vote for war, and she does it. She does it. No critical thinking skills, none. You need that as a leader and she doesn't have it. Her donors tell her to jump and she asks them, "how high?" How high?

Everyone has been trying to run away from Trump. Run away from him. Forget he even existed. Because he exposed all of them as frauds. Kristi. Queen Nikki. Mike Pence. They're all losers and failures. They've received marching orders all their lives. They can't make decisions for themselves. They listen to whatever lobbyist they met with that day. They listen to the Pharma guys. They listen to the woke billionaires. And somehow I'm a 'flip-flop'? Because I make my own decisions? Gimme a break.

August/September 2023

Eric Adams's latest campaign tour brought him to Charleston, South Carolina, in the very first state to vote in the primary, but also through the Upper South and very unusually to the other Charleston, the capital of West Virginia. While keeping the main focus on Black voters, the campaign came up with the unorthodox move to try and find an opening among some White working class voters by visiting an area long-forgone by national Democratic campaigns.

In South Carolina:

I was amused to learn that Al Gore entered the race - what a blast from the past. He actually first ran for President in 1988. That's when I was just getting started as a young police officer. That's when Reverend Jackson was running for President too. And I actually helped him in one campaign, I learnt a lot from him, even performing humble tasks. It’s amazing how much you can learn just from holding someone's coat.

I was the victim of police brutality as a teenage boy, I know it first-hand. I founded a group of Black cops working on improving relations between our community and law enforcement. Frankly, you can trust me more than any other candidate on the topic of criminal justice and police reform. Black lives matter, and that's why we can't allow them to be lost to violent crime.

In West Virginia:

I came here because nobody else would do it. I've lived all my life in New York, a very different place, but our experiences are not so dissimilar. There are many low-income families and people of color in Charleston as well, and many ordinary folks who liked the Democratic Party. I came here because economic justice can't be fully realized if it doesn't include revitalizing places like this one. Back in 2016, like most West Virginians, I voted for Sanders against Hillary Clinton...

Senator Gillibrand fired at me during the debate because apparently she thinks a mayor's duties are about the Green New Deal instead of, you know, public safety, affordable housing and attracting jobs and investment. She talks a lot about everything, but that's all she does, and it's hard to follow what she even has to say.

Roger Stone Debate Rebuttals

On Mike Pence's announcement to exit the race:

Good riddance. What a maniac.

On defending Kari Lake:

There's been some BS attacks thrown against my friend Kari Lake when it comes to her past support, and I've got to step in here. So, allow me to inject a bit of historical perspective for those here who forgot certain inconvenient truths. Ronald Reagan was a Democrat who voted for Democrats. Donald Trump was a Democrat who voted for Democrats. Some of our greatest conservative presidents may not have started out as diehard Republicans, but they forged their own path to the light. We must continue growing this party and have more folks like Kari come to our side. That's what my campaign is all about.

Being a lifelong Republican doesn't mean much if you're also a lifelong RINO. Just saying.

On calling out Ron DeSantis:

There's a reason why you're now universally known as Ron DeSnaketis, Governor. You claim to be the second coming of Trump, new and improved. But, when you were asked who's the most inspirational person you've met, you said Bush 41. Not exactly a rock-ribbed conservative. You pretend to fight Big Pharma, but you've shielded Pfizer and their kind from liability. When you were in Congress, you supported disastrous trade deals like TPP. Trade was one of the biggest reasons Trump first ran, and you never gave a hoot about our workers before he came along. You long cheered on the reckless military adventures started by Bush 43 that cost us trillions of dollars and thousands of lives.

Need I mention your big money donors, the ones who begged you to run? They're the same Bush-Romney neocons who flooded our borders, gutted our industries, and tried to stop Trump from the very beginning. We all see through you, Ron. The question is if you're ever willing to come clean about it.

On responding to Larry Hogan's attack:

Nice attempt at sounding like a Trump conservative, Larry, but you'll have to try harder next time. Believe it or not, there are plenty of people around the world who also deserve their freedom and liberties. Reagan talked about this all the time. If I can help inspire our neighbors to the north break free from socialism without sacrificing my loyalty to this country, just as I've done, that's a beautiful thing. What have you ever done that actually amounts to something, Governor?

THE HAWKEYE STATE

Noem visits a few of Iowa's 99 counties each day, with the intent of visiting well over half before the summer's end, to escape the brutal Iowa winter as much as possible and campaign in South Carolina then. A few snapshots:

In Mills County, Noem rips into Matt Gaetz: "You know, he cannot deny those allegations. And if he does, we can't just let them slide. Matt Gaetz is a disgusting pedophile. He can't just wave this stuff away by saying it's fake news. There are multiple credible allegations against him, with evidence, and those seriously need to be looked into. They can't be ignored. If we nominate Matt Gaetz, it will be a huge blow not only to his multiple accusers, but to all women, myself included, to all who have sisters, or daughters. This disgusting pervert cannot claim to be pro-woman, or pro-family-values, or a true Christian. We need to elect a real social conservative, someone who stands up for family values in their politics while also practicing them at home."

In Greene County, she discusses Josh Hawley. "Josh Hawley claimed he wasn't a career politician when he ran for AG in Missouri in 2016. Just two years later, having achieved nothing for the people of Missouri, he decided to go to Washington. And you know, I get it, that doesn't sound like such a big deal. But Josh is a complete coward. On January 6, he incited those rioters. There's no getting around that fact. He showed solidarity with them, pumped his fist to indicate his support. Just a few hours later? He was running around, trying to escape, heading down the escalator. He helped incite a mob that he was scared of. Josh Hawley is a pathetic coward. He's all about empty gestures, but when it comes down to it, he's not in it for the ordinary people. In America, or for other people across the globe. He was the only senator, from either party, to oppose allowing Finland and Sweden into NATO. He opposed a package to help Ukraine as it was being invaded and attacked by Russia. This man, make no mistake, is a Putin apologist. He's pro-Russia. That's not something this party can accept."

In Emmet County, she discusses her own background. "I left college to work at the family farm. I'm from a family of ranchers and farmers. I'm someone who understands the struggles rural Americans face - how tough inflation is, how painful it is to see the country you grew up in fade away and become unrecognisable to you. Because I am one of you. All  of the other candidates in this race, they're businessman, they're lawyers, their career politicians. Ultimately, they aren't for your interests, and they never will be. They're for the special interests that fund their campaigns and line their pockets. They're not for you and me. My only special interest is the people, struggling farmers and ranchers in rural America who've been left behind for too long. If I ever leave you behind, I'll also be leaving my own family behind, I'll be leaving myself behind. Because I am a proud rancher and a farmer, and I will always be an advocate for rural America. No matter what. And no special interest is going to change that."

In Hamilton County. "Kari Lake is a complete lunatic! She will humiliate this party if we make the mistake of nominating her. She claims she's been brainwashed. She's a sore loser who can't win elections - she can only try and challenge them, always unsuccessfully. She's been in the mainstream media for over two decades, so she knows how to lie. And she's lied countless times. Do we want to nominate this brainwashed sore loser to be our president? Because if she's elected, who knows, she might do another political 180. Unlike Kari Lake, I've been a proud conservative my whole life, not somebody who jumped on to the bandwagon just a few years ago."

Noem repeatedly also slams Ron DeSantis for the allegations being made against him, for "caving to the left on abortion," for "picking fights with Disney instead of serving Floridians", and for being "a woke environmentalist." She also attacks him for opposing hurricane relief funding - "When tragedies like that hit any part of this country, we must unite. Whether we're from New Jersey or Nevada, whether we're from Minnesota or Mississippi. Ron DeSantis, after Hurricane Sandy, was one of the few congressmen who voted against relief for Hurricane Sandy's victims. I don't know why he did that. But especially given the hurricanes that have hit Florida during the past few years, he should be especially aware how devastating it is, and how important it is that we as a country unite to support its victims."
Similar to Stone, she also attacks DeSantis "for supporting the military industrial-complex. He didn't put America First until it made sense for him politically. For a long time, he put military contractors, and the military industrial-complex, first. He supported unnecessary wars that cost us trillions of dollars, and the lives of thousands of American soldiers. Now as a congressman, and especially as governor, there's not a lot he can do about the military, which is a good thing. But if he's president? You can guarantee he will increase military spending, drag us into unnecessary conflicts. He won't put America first. He'll put donors from the military industrial complex first, he'll put the defense contracts first, at the cost of American taxpayers, and at the cost of lives both here and abroad." Further, she says, "Ron, like most of the other candidates in this race, is a fraud who says one thing and does another, who, like all career politicians, can do the empty gesturing but who forgets about the people who elected him when it counts. Like career politicians, he can give you platitudes and rhetoric and empty promises, but when it comes to taking actions, he does nothing. He's against Big Pharma? Please! He protected Pfizer from liability - likely because of donations they've made out to him. Up in South Dakota, I took flak from the establishment, from big donors, when I refused to stand by the big companies that have made a whole industry out of giving unwilling Americans one injection after another. Ron may claim to be for personal freedom, but what you'll find is that he alternates between opposing the vaccine altogether, and the other extreme, which is supporting Big Pharma as it doles out one unnecessary booster shot after another."

NOEM VS. LAKE

"Kari Lake is the only loser I see here. Say what you will about Haley and Pence, at least they can win elections. Kari, though? She lost an easily winnable election, and has since spent months and months on one pathetic lawsuit after another. You can guarantee she does the same thing nationally if we nominate her for president. And it'll be with the same level of success. She got Katie Hobbs elected in Arizona, and she'll get Kamala Harris elected next year if we give her the chance.

I have always been against the military industrial complex. However, the Iraq War aside, George W. Bush was a strong social conservative, and his opponent, John Kerry, was the king of flip-floppers - so that's another thing he and Kari have in common. Because I've noticed Kari doesn't talk about how she supported Barack Obama as well.

I suppose it's all okay! Kari was "brainwashed," but she's fine now! She's seen the light! If we elect her, we should just hope that she's not susceptible enough to get "brainwashed" by the woke left again.

Let's just discuss the difference between the both of us. I'm a rancher and a farmer. My political career has been about being an advocate for South Dakotans, fighting the establishment and representing rural interests. I'm proud to say I've made my career fighting the establishment and taking flak for it, that I've made my career working for South Dakotans left behind for too long. And I got elected Governor of South Dakota twice, while never forgetting about the ordinary people who elected me, not once.

Now let's look at Kari. She worked in the left-wing, biased lame stream media for over two decades. If what she says is true - fifty-fifty chance - then she made her career lying to people. Her political experience consists of running in one winnable election, losing, and then spending the next several months being a pathetic, bitter loser, and complaining about fraud.

Here's the thing, Kari. YOU might have been brainwashed, but you can't brainwash the people of Arizona into electing a fraud, and a grifter, and a complete flip-flopper as governor. And the same goes for America.

We aren't stupid enough to get roped in to the ramblings of a pathetic loser who's done nothing but lie to the American people all her career, not once doing anything to serve them.

I promise you, Kari, this party will not be nominating a loser and a liar as their nominee, so you might as well start call your lawyers and filing lawsuits to complain about it."

For the People: Above the Fray

With the campaign heating up the Vice President had no-one else to go but back to her core base of support, South Carolina.

Not wanting any candidate to get a strong foothold in the state and wanting to give the early primary state as much facetime as possible. The Vice President flew into Columbus around 2 in the morning from D.C and quickly checked into the nearest secret service swept hotel with her campaign staff.

The Vice President's first stop in the Palmetto State was at a strip mall where she visited a local nail salon and talked to patrons while she herself got a manicure. Then after leaving a very generous tip and paying for the service she visited several small business restaurants and arrived at one restaurant where they cleared some tables for her to address the seated group eating.

"They just put me on the spot and said speak! So (Laughs) here we are!"

"Obviously, I am here in South Carolina as the Vice President, as a wife, a momala, and a candidate for President. But I don't think many of you know why I am running, I'm running for President because in the over, I think it's been 6 years I have worked in the federal government I have met with people of all walks of life, of different backgrounds, genders, sexual orientation, age, you name it."

"And a thing I constantly hear, in fact I heard it earlier today. 'I don't believe the federal government cares about me'. And you can imagine how deeply upsetting to me it was to hear that especially considering that I work in the federal government. Well, I mean I don't just work, I'm the Vice President but! (Laughs) And so when you hear that all the time you decide, I need to show these people that someone cares about them

"So, why am I running for President? I'm running to be your voice, your champion in the White House, my campaign chant is 'For the People' and that is honestly a short answer version of why I am running, I am running for and by the people. So I'm not gonna stay in your way anymore with these big secret service guys with guns (Laughs) but please do not lose faith in us, your public servants. That is what we are, we are your public servants, we respond to you. Nobody else."

"And with that! My food is ready! So I'm gonna sit down and eat with you guys!"

After a quick lunch at the diner, the Vice President went to a small business boutique which was open press, there the Vice President tried on a variety of outfits for the press and discussed with the owners her plan to provide small business's with grants in order to give them the opportunity to expand and grow their businesses as well as tax breaks in order to alleviate them from personal financial burdens as well as business financial burdens.

The Vice President then stopped by a local family reunion where she took pictures with the assembled family, talked on the phone with those not present and held babies. After referencing how much she loves to cook, the Vice President was invited on the grill to rotate hot dogs and flip hamburgers which she did whilst donned in a red apron.

Afterwards the Vice President stopped into the local WOLO Channel 25 studio for a quick interview with Doug Currin on her visit to South Carolina and her hopes in the upcoming first in the nation primary contest.

CURRIN:
Madam Vice President, thank you so much for joining us

HARRIS:
Of course, Doug, its such a pleasure speaking to members of the press especially here in the great state of South Carolina, and ya know my husband's name is Doug

CURRIN:
Yes ma'am, and if you don't mind me asking, how is the Second Gentleman?

HARRIS:
He's good, I'm very glad he's spreading out message out and he is an integral part of our campaign.

CURRIN:
Speaking of the campaign, Madam Vice President, you ran for President in 2020 and you relied a lot of your hopes on South Carolina then and you pulled very close or sometimes even with President Biden in that race before dropping out, how do you feel your chances are now?

HARRIS:
Well, I am very confident in our chances in South Carolina, the people of South Carolina defied political punditry in 2020 and they kicked off Joe Biden's journey to the Democratic nomination and eventually the Presidency. And with it being the first contest in the race I am incredibly confident in our chances of winning this pivotal state and it kicking us off to the Democratic nomination.

CURRIN:
Now, even if you do win the Democratic nomination a lot of people are concerned about your electability, including even your own Governor, Gavin Newsom, who has said he does not believe you can win. What do you have to say about that?

HARRIS:
Governor Newsom is entitled to his own opinion, but look, this is not the first time people have raised questions about whether I can win an election. In 2003, my very first race I was polling as low as 5% but! We defied the odds, made it to a run-off and won.

And when I ran for Attorney General in 2010, a big red wave year they said and I was behind in every poll leading up to election day, they even called the race for my opponent on election night. But guess what? I came from behind and won and I can tell voters across this country and especially here in South Carolina. I am not new to this, I know how to win, and if you nominate me I will.

CURRIN:
Now if you mind moving with me to the other side of the primary, the Republicans..

HARRIS:
(Laughs)

CURRIN:
You're laughing but they are in all means, disarray. You have multiple candidates engaging in conspiracy theories, you've been name dropped with conspiracy theories attached to your name and they have really been ripping each other to shreds. Does that make you more confident about your chances against any of these candidates next November?

HARRIS:
I mean, what else do you expect? The same party that couldn't elect a Speaker, who supported a
former president who incited an insurrection against the United States government, I mean look, they have lost all credibility with the American people and I am confident that with time voters and the media will no longer take them as seriously cause this is not your father's republican party and this has been proven time and time again.

I mean you got a candidate who falsely calls herself Governor even though she lost her race, you got Lin Wood engaging in- I mean ya know. It's a mess and that's all I'm gonna say (Laughs)

CURRIN:
Madam Vice President, thank you very much for this opportunity.

HARRIS:
Thank you so much for having me, Doug.

Wrapping up the interview the Vice President made a few more quick visits to shopping malls, small business and even a local McDonalds where she reminisced about how she used to work a job at McDonalds and saying she will do everything to raise the minimum wage to "$15 or higher!" before leaving to her hotel for the day.

Miami Republican Debate

Neil Cavuto: Welcome to the Republican Presidential Debate here in the James L. Knight Center in Miami, Florida. I'm Neil Cavuto of Fox News, I'm joined by FOX family members Maria Bartiromo and Ainsley Earhardt. There will be also be a post-debate panel of Tucker Carlson and Former Congresswoman Tulsi Gabbard to discuss the debate's events. Today we're moderating the first Republican debate for President of the United States. We'd like to thank the venue, the city of Miami, and Mayor Suarez, who is in the audience today. Let's begin.

1. An Opening Statement

I'm Governor Ron DeSantis of Florida. I'm running for President because I believe this country is in trouble. Joe Biden has been controlled by the radical left and is working to make our nation into a socialist one. The radical left is also teaching our kids about Marxism. I am running to stop that, I'm running to return conservative values to our country, values of freedom, low taxes, limited government, and I am proud to have governed in accordance with these values right here in Florida.

2. Raise your hand if you believe that Donald J. Trump is the rightful winner of the 2020 Presidential Election (Say if you raised your hand and if you like, write one or two sentences)

I did not raise my hand, and I think the question of whether or not President Trump won, which we will never know without an audit is tangential to the point. The 2020 election is over and we need to focus on a plan that can let us win by enough in 2024 that the Democrats cannot possibly steal it, and I believe I am the candidate who can make that happen.

3. Who is your favorite Republican President in your lifetime? (Keep your answer concise, 2-4 sentences)

I am a big admirer of President Trump. President Trump stood up for life, he stood up to the radical left, and he stood up for American jobs. He has shaped our nation for the better and I look forward to continuing his policies.

4. The United States has an out of control inflation problem. The cost of housing, food, energy, and gasoline is spiraling, what will you do to control inflation and bring down costs for working Americans?

The first thing that we need to do is stop all of this out of control spending in the Biden administration, which is fueling inflation. Joe Biden promised to heal divides in America, but he stood with the radical left to pass a trillion dollar spending package and then stood with the far left and denied that inflation was a problem. I will also cut the gas tax, we need to help working class Americans, unlike the Democrats who want to pass the Green New Deal and make energy unaffordable.

5. Will you support a national abortion ban? Would it be after 15 weeks of pregnancy? 10 weeks? 6? Or would you prohibit all elective abortions?

We have passed a 10 week abortion ban in Florida and I would support passing one nationally. I believe it is important to protect our most vulnerable members of society, and I will work with Congress to get it done. I also will only appoint judges who pledge to uphold Dobbs v Jackson.

Personalized Questions:
To Governor DeSantis: You've promised to make America look more like right here in Florida with lower taxes and more freedom, how do you plan to make that happen as President?

Well, the first thing we're going to end the out of control spending that the Democrats have passed, not only is this contributing to inflation but it is also adding to our national debt and all of the young people here in the audience are going to be stuck with the bill. I will cut taxes, today taxes are so high that young people can't establish a foothold. You look at any of these Democratic run cities like San Francisco and New York, taxes are so high that young people don't have enough money to get by, meanwhile in Florida, we welcome thousands of young people each year who are seeking freedom from these tax-and-spend coastal liberal cities. In Florida, we also offered people the freedom during COVID to make their own decisions and we still kept deaths down. I was in Nevada recently, and the Democratic run lockdowns there devastated the economy there. I am going to give you the freedom to do what you want, because you know what is best for yourself, and even during times of crisis, there are choices other than top-down government solutions. Democrats govern by treating you like children, who need to be told what to do, I will treat you like the adults you are, letting you make the decisions for yourself.

6. Rebuttal Period/Free Space

(Rebuttals will be edited in as I scroll through everyone's responses, hope GM doesn't mind Smiley )
Quote

To quite honest with you, Matt, I've never heard of the allegations you're talking about

Quote

Look, Roger, you're not one to talk about loyalty to Trump. You quit his campaign in 2015 and have not worked for him since. It doesn't matter how much you claim to support him, you have not put in the work that I have. I worked very hard to help President Trump win Florida in 2020, which no one thought we could do. Meanwhile, you joined the Libertarian Party in 2014 and threatened to run against the Republicans in Florida and hand this state to the woke left.

Quote
Need I mention your big money donors, the ones who begged you to run? They're the same Bush-Romney neocons who flooded our borders, gutted our industries, and tried to stop Trump from the very beginning. We all see through you, Ron. The question is if you're ever willing to come clean about it.

No one was supporting me for Governor in 2018 until President Trump did. Our campaign was successful because we recognized that the old brand of conservatism was outdated, you've worked in Republican politics for 50 years, Roger, so maybe we should ask if you're actually the Bush-Romney candidate and just along for the ride. In fact, you stopped working for campaigns just as Trump came onto the scene.

Statement from Kari Lake
Quote
She keeps lying folks. She keeps lying. It's almost unbelievable how she can stand up in front of a crowd and flap her mouth like that. Let me clue you folks in on what's going on: Kristi got bad news from her pollster. The numbers guys. They come up to her and tell her, "Kristi, you're dying out there, they don't believe you! Your special interests are mad! The oversea billionaires funding your campaign are mad! You have to attack! You have to attack!" And so, of course, she goes after me. Like all of the other, frankly, frauds in the race, she comes after me. Because she knows, if her numbers don't go up, it's over for her. Totally over. She's up a creek without a paddle, and with big big loans to pay off.

So here's what happens. Kristi, looking like Margaret Hamilton out of the Wizard of Oz, she comes after me. "I'm not a loser, I'm not a loser, you're the loser!" You're the loser. Folks, Arizona, it's a close state. Very very close state. We have hundreds of thousands of people coming into this state to flee California. They're running away so so fast and we're giving these people a place to call home. As a result, every election is close. Every election. Arizona gets these people, gives them a home, and then we have a debate. It's democracy. Or it would be, if not for the fraud and the machines crapping out on election day. There was a lot of shady stuff going on there believe me.

Meanwhile, look at South Dakota. It's a great state. It's a beautiful state. It's a Republican state. Very very Republican. You look at the numbers, and Trump won the state by something like 20, 30, 40 points. Huge landslide. Huge! Nothing like it. The numbers out of there were tremendous. He won that state by almost 2:1. So many great people in South Dakota.

Let's look at Kristi now. Let's look at her. When she ran, in 2018, for the first time, she won by 3 points. 3. It was so close, the media was like, "what the hell is happening here? This is Republican turf!" And she almost lost! She almost lost. They had to drag her body across the finish line, physically drag her, it was so so close. And now she's attacking me for not winning in Arizona. How stupid do you have to be to buy this act? How stupid do you have to be? They robbed Trump of Arizona in 2020. He lost here due to fraud, it was terrible. Meanwhile, South Dakota, it's all red. Trump won bigly, bigger than anyone else in history. All red. Bright bright red. And she almost lost like a dog to some no name Democrat from the middle of nowhere. How can anybody call her a winner? With a record like that? It's like the Boston Red Sox losing to a t-ball team. Tom Brady getting beaten by a 5-year old. It's shameful.

I guess that's why she's still defending the Iraq War. Still defending it big time. It's like someone is telling her to defend that horrible war. Paying her to stand up there and say, "Bush was a good guy, everything was great. We love war!" We love war. No no, we don't. We don't love war Kristi, you love war! Your friends love war. Your special interests love war. Americans, we don't love war. We don't love it.

Let's talk about the elephant in the room now. B.O. Barack Obama. He made a lot of terrible decisions folks. He really did. But you have to go back to 2008. We had a war that was going on forever. We had the worst Republican President ever, who everybody hated and wanted thrown out of office. Everyone despised him. And who did the elites nominate? Who did they nominate? They nominated John McCain. Liberal John McCain, who by the way, wanted thousands more troops in Iraq. Thousands more dying in the desert. He wanted that. Who the hell would vote for this guy? He sunk Trump's healthcare bill, he went out there and told Republicans to vote for Democrats. Frankly, Obama was more honest than McCain. More honest. And we got out of Iraq quick. Which is what we wanted. We wanted that. If McCain had won, we'd still be there today. We'd still be there. Dying in the desert.

And, of course, because Kristi hasn't gone on the attack enough, she has to throw one more pitch. One more attack. Her big donors call her, and they go, "we like the lies, Kristi. We like the lies and the attacks about Iraq. It's great. But you have to use her playbook. You have to go after her for the media thing. She worked in the local news. You have to attack her for that." And lo and behold, she calls me part of the media! Part of the biased media! After she talked to her donors, she has the right talking points.

Folks, let's have a show of hands. Is MSNBC biased media? Mhm. Yep. There we go. 90% of hands are up right now. Is CNN biased media? Again, everyone's hand should be up. What about the local news? What about your local news anchor? Are they biased media? Do they lie to your face about Kamala Harris or crime or inflation? No. Hell no! Those men and women bust their asses every day to give you the truth. It's all in the name. Local news. Local. News. News. Local. It's right there. These folks care that their communities get the facts. They're not Don Lemon. They're not Al Sharpton. They're local. They're local. They investigate criminals in your town and keep you informed. Folks, was I on CNN or MSNBC? No. No. I was a local news anchor. Local. I cared about the people of Phoenix very deeply. No one bought me. No one told me what to say. I did my own research. I reported just the facts to the people. But Kristi, she doesn't watch local news. She only listens to the news the donors give her. So out of touch. It's like she's forgotten what America is actually like!

Man of God

The last several years have witnessed great fluctuation for Roger Stone. Not just for his legal troubles and for his involvement with various right-wing groups. This also goes for his core identity: his faith. During the time when he was under the microscope of the Mueller investigation, Stone found Jesus Christ and fully accepted him into his life again. Stone, a Catholic since birth, would now claim to be born again after having had a extended private conversation with Reverend Franklin Graham. Although critics of Stone would call this a deeply cynical move to gain sympathy, Stone and his closest allies would make sure to convey to the world that this is genuine now that he is running. Stone is a changed man—at least in some ways.

On the campaign trail, Stone would often invoke Christian themes in his speeches. One of the most notable examples frequently used is how, when he describes prosecutors from the Mueller team, they would instead be referred to as "persecutors." The life of Stone would be made out as a redemption arc—from the sins to the graces, the indictments to the pardon, and everything in between. Stone makes a point about being transparent on his wild personal past, both to bring home the message of redemption and to also cleverly blunt the impact of any future attacks from primary opponents ahead of time.

Given the dominant influence of Evangelicals and social conservatives in the Republican Party, as well as having decades of experience in the political trenches, Stone is uniquely aware of what it takes to win the nomination. These voter blocs would theoretically be up in arms over a candidate coming in with a libertine reputation and certain socially moderate or even libertarian views. However, one candidate in Donald Trump perfected the art of earning their trust over time. Stone would fight with fire and brimstone to do the same.

Stone recognizes from the onset that there are already multiple candidates—such as Ron DeSantis, Josh Hawley, and Kristi Noem—more naturally attuned to social conservatives. However, he doesn't necessarily need to be their first choice; he just needs to build up respectable margins and also not invoke organized opposition around his candidacy. A influential bloc within the social conservatives that Stone believes he can become the first choice of is the so-called "Christian nationalists." These voters self-describe as extremely patriotic, often aligning with many of the same movements and organizations that Stone and colleagues have extensive relations with. A key emissary to the Christian nationalists will be General Michael Flynn, a beloved figure of the Republican grassroots who also couches his language in religious tones. Flynn will attest to the convictions and principles that Stone holds on all fronts: from livestreams with influential bloggers to rallies with likeminded patriots, which he already conducts on a regular basis. The Stone campaign believes that, by rallying the Christian nationalists, they can gain a distinct organizational advantage on the ground over other candidates in the MAGA lane. This can be especially beneficial in a state like Iowa with its caucus model and the fierce competition for religious-minded voters.

To gather more institutional support among the Christian right, Stone makes great overtures toward former Gov. Mike Huckabee: a prominent Evangelical who is nonetheless a fierce pro-Trump voice. Stone would come on Huckabee's television show several times over the summer to pitch his credentials and also discuss his personal journey. However, Stone would make no bigger effort behind the scenes than to land the endorsement of Reverend Franklin Graham himself. Franklin, son of Billy, was the one who guided Stone on his current path. No other candidate has just the intimate connection with the Reverend that he does. Graham has also been one of President Trump's fiercest defenders through thick and thin, adding another area of bonding. Having Reverend Graham's support would mark both a personal honor and a political coup.

In September, Stone asked the Reverend whether he would be interested in organizing a joint prayer breakfast, to which he agreed to the notion. A prayer breakfast would be held later that month in Davenport, IA. Stone invited other notable figures to the event—including Huckabee, Ben Carson, Mike Lindell, Rand Paul, and Ted Cruz—in a show of solidarity across the GOP. During the breakfast, Stone prayed for the health and safety of his fellow countrymen; that all political prisoners, including President Trump, could be freed as he was; and for "the vanquishing of all wicked demons who roam the land."

"The differences between the both of us are very simple, folks. I've spent my life ranching and farming. Kari has spent her life in the mainstream media, which she herself claims lies to people, which she herself claims brainwashed her. In my political career, my only special interest has been the people, and I have been a tireless and fearless advocate for social conservatism, and fighter for rural Americans, during my entire career. I've never lost a race. Kari's political career? She's never won a race. Or any of the lawsuits she filed after she lost the one race she competed in.

Kari can say whatever she wants about John McCain. But there are three things I have to point out here: John McCain was a more honourable person that she can ever be, and he served our country's military with honour and distinction. And unlike Kari, he actually knew how to win elections in Arizona - he knew how to win in the state very comfortably. So maybe she could learn a thing or two from him instead of attacking him.

All the claims of super-rich donors are complete and utter lies, just like most other things out of Kari's mouth. In fact, it's projection. Take a look and you'll find I get the donations from ordinary, working-class Americans concerned about the direction this country is taking. As I've said in the past, my only special interests are the American people, rural Americans, working-class Americans. And those are the special interests donating to my grassroots campaign. Who's donating to Kari? Not ordinary Americans. Her rich pals in the media, that's who's donating to her.

So I urge all of you. Take a look at the record and you'll find this woman is filled with self-contradictions, with flip-flops. She's got a dark past. She doesn't like to talk about all the people she supported, all the things she said and did, just a few years back. Because that's the real Kari Lake. As for me? My life is an open book. I grew up in rural South Dakota. I didn't land a cushy job in the mainstream media. I dropped out of community college to work at my family's ranch after my father died. I have no flip-flops, no self-contradiction, no secret past, that I wish to hide from the voters. Kari does. She has a lot of skeletons in her closet."

Noem, seeing Roger Stone's latest move, realises that winning over the religious right will be absolutely essential to winning the primary, and begins making the appropriate plans. She heads down to Lynchburg, Virginia, to Liberty University, to meet the President of the University, Jerry Prevo. Also present is Pat Robertson.

Noem outlines why she believes she is the best candidate for the religious right. She obviously points out Matt Gaetz's pedophilia, ruling him out as a candidate, and much more importantly, she highlights the multiple allegations of assault against front-runner Ron DeSantis, stating that while they would have no choice but to rally around him should he become the nominee, they should attempt to hand the nomination to an equally electable, but more moral and family-values-oriented candidate. To also attack his public policy views, she points out his relative compromise in his abortion ban in Florida, sharply contrasting it with the complete ban she passed in South Dakota. Discussing their governor, Glenn Youngkin, she reminds them that he is a social moderate who has passed no restrictions on abortions in Virginia. And regarding Roger Stone, who has made overtures to Franklin Graham and Mike Huckabee, she points out his many personal un-scruples.

Noem discusses growing up her humble background in rural South Dakota (where, she claims, religion played an important role) and how her personal life is completely scandal-free and how she, both personally and politically "is the candidate for family values and social conservatism."

Noem also publicly meets with James Dobson in South Carolina, where she discusses her religious beliefs and joins him in a public prayer. Later, in a closed-door meeting, she stresses many of the same points she made to Robertson and Prevo, particularly making sure to rule out Ron DeSantis as a credible choice, and once again framing herself as THE candidate for social conservatism.

Publicly and on the campaign trail, she makes the same cases against Youngkin, DeSantis, Gaetz. Of Stone, she is more careful, but firm in her judgement (just as she was with Dobson, Robertson and Prevo): "While it's important for good Christians to forgive and forget, it's impossible to deny that Roger Stone's lived a life filled with sin and scandal, and completely devoid of religion. While it's good he has found Jesus, I think a better choice for the religious right is somebody who has spent their entire life, not just the past couple years, as a part of it, someone who has always had faith and lived a life without personal sin, rather than a life filled with it."
