Basically, this means if a corporation invents a device that assists with surveilance in ways that can help authoritarian governments across the world stay in control and make the lives of its people worse, then sells it to said government, this question asks if you would support allowing your country to jail said the executive leadership of said corporation that approved the sale.

I would support it.

This is way too broad of a law.

Technology can sometimes lead to liberalization.

Technology can sometimes lead to liberalization.
This thread is specifically about technology that makes it easier for the regime to retain power/make lives worse for its citizens.

Is there any technology that doesn't have this potential?

Authoritarian states may often be called on to perform duties that are either legitimate or at least in a gray area. "Surveillance" by an "authoritarian state" is bad; but should it not be used to catch murderers? What if there is a terrorism problem?

And moreover, if Western companies collectively stop selling to these countries, they will still have ready sellers in China and Russia. China has in fact pretty much supplanted other sellers like those based in France. Why should we accept authoritarian states using technology that only our adversaries can easily access?
